Looking at it, he can survive being shot out of a cannon onto hard surface and being slammed down by the skeleton's hand (with quite some force I imagine), but he's pretty much a pool toy where once he get's cut he just gushes out a fountain of blood. How much force he put into the knife when he cut his finger, we don't know. He does seem have some admirable strength. He seemingly managed to lift Roland out of the water, and clambered up the mountain alright. But like you guys said, the reason he got away withing killing so many monarchs is because of his contrasting ruthlessness.

It vaguely impressed me when I realized that in his previous scene he was falling in the Snake's crown into the water. Then it shows Ronald getting thrust out of the water.

Basically he fell in the water, then offscreen located the nearest king, and thrust him out of the water to kill him via suffocation.
