So far I've read the following comics from Wildstorm:
Authority vol 1
Stormwatch by Ellis
Planetary
Mr Majestic by Casey
the Majestic one-shot by Moore
the complete Midnighter vol 1
All of these were pretty fucking good, some of the best comics I've ever read. What are some other Wildstorm must-reads?
Also, discuss Wildstorm comics

Wetworks. It's about a Black Ops millitary group who're caught up in a war between vampires and werewolves
It's a pretty fun read actually if you can get over the sheer camp that is the golden symbiotes

Joe Casey's Wildcats/Wildcats Version 3.0, Automatic Kafka, The Intimates
Ed Brubarker's Point Blank, Seeper Season 1-2

thanks
should I bother with any of the Post-Millar Authority?
>>91242721
How did Millar get away with this?
>>91240840
>rec-fagging
"People" like you are why this board is so fucking terrible. Get out.
>>91242982
You really shouldnt read even Millar authority. Its so edgy
You should read all of Gen13 volume 1. Granted its not amazing but its fun and its highs are super high.
It also sounds like you havent read much Wildcats. Def just read the first 12 or so issues to get that 90s base feel. Then absolutely read Moore's run on the title and whatever crossover happened during his run. Then yeah Wildcats volume 2 starts stupid with amazing art then gets super good. Then Wildcats 3.0 is fantastic.
>>91243163
If OP is too much of a lazy faggot to loom up reading material on their own, they don't deserve to have anything to read. Stop enabling the cancer, and demand some fucking standard to entry.
>Wildcats 3.0
>fantastic
That run was utter garbage. Kill yourself.
Up to the about when Wildcats 3.0 stopped and Brubakers stuff stopped Ive read or skimmed through everything they published chronologically. Following Wildcats as a throughline is best. Then enjoy all Ellis stuff. His Stormwatch is better than Authority
>>91242982
Garth Ennis' Authority: Kev miniseries are a lot of fun.
Ed Brubaker's Authority: The Revolution is okay, but not great.
>>91242939
Sounds like you've never read any of his books listed here.
>>91243205
Wow. Guess we have a 4chan god here with us. This board is to talk about comics and recommending cool stuff to harmless anons is all part of it and fun. Jesus your life must be awful if this is your attitude
>>91243205
Oh fuck off, we're lucky to even get to discuss comics for two seconds.
>>91243272
Yeah you fucking suck. If it bothers you hide the thread and move on. JEsus christ
>>91243239
>harmless
Nigga, have you even SEEN the board today? None of these "harmless" anons give a flying rats ass about comics or cartoons. They're a bunch of /pol/-tards who are only interested in shitposting. But you bunch of retards are in denial about this because you're desperate to be seen as "the nice board". "/co/ is love" translates to everyone else as "/co/ is a bunch of pushovers, let's take their lunch money!". By indulging in recshit, you are enabling the continued degradation of /co/. But clearly you're okay with being a shit board, so by all means continue to be less about comics and cartoons, and more about politics and memespamming.
>>91243346
This is one of the weirdest and dumbest posters Ive ever seen on 4chan. Anyways OP you still here? What else might you be interested in?

>"I like never being able to have a quality discussion. Every thread on /co/ should be either memes, twitter posts, or some hipster hate against anything even remotely popular. That's the /co/ I want!"
You "people" are fucking disgusting.
Def get into Wildcats. If you can stomach some dropf offs in quality I would just read the volumes 1-3 in order. Its fun to see how it all changes as diff creators put their marks on it.
>>91243467
Ok, let's try to have a quality discussion, re: Ellis.
One thing always bothered me about his mainstream DC or Marvel work: he always wrote like a smartass, and his characters were often cynical bastards.
BUT. When I started to read his Wildstorm works, I've absolutely loved them. To paraphrase Pax Americana: the Wildstorm world rewards it's bastards. I think his style was a natural fit for that universe, that's why it became so successful.
>>91243591
And now he has the whole toybox all for himself....
>>91243591
Go fuck yourself. I'm not about to have a chat in a fucking rec thread. That's like a Pol trying to have discussion on history in a German beer hall. We can talk as soon as all the beer halls are demolished.
>>91243940
You sound so retarded like someone in a Garth Ennis comic
>>91240840
Never really read Wildstorm except Planetary, I think.
Is there a reading order or recommended list?
>>91244087
There is. It's called Google.
>>91244087
Not that I know of, but there's so much good on it that you could pick up anything. I recommend anything Wildcats related, Authority, Sleeper, Gen13, Welcome to Tranquility, DV8, StormWatch PHD...
>>91244087
Here is a mostly complete reading order I've found
http://www.comicbookdb.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1356&sid=da48fbce2f79e3eb4d82c2eea9e68c11&start=15
Of course there are bound to be many shitty comics on the list
Just try the recs from this thread, and use the list to read it in order
>>91244167
Oh hey, I made that list.
>>91244203
nice!
gonna use it to build my Wildstorm shelf from the best stories
I've just finished assembling my 90s JLA headcanon so I need a new project
>>91244126
>>91244167
Y'know, I was kinda half joking about you guys wanting the board to suck, but now I don't know.
Why do you keep enabling these shitposters? It can't be out of some misguided attempt at bringing new readers in, because history has proven that no act of heaven nor earth will ever get more people to give a shit about comics,l. The only thing that makes sense is that you really do want to be seen as "the nice board", but don't realize that just makes us a huge target. Goddammit, wake up already.
>>91244291
Nice. Wildstorm is extremely rewarding. Pic notwithstanding.
>>91244312
Goddammit Cranky go outside and take a walk
>>91245389
Stop enabling the continued degradation of this community and I'll consider it.
I just want to discuss comics and cartoons, but only about 5% of people on /co/ actually seem to care about comics and cartoons. For fucks sake!
>>91245584
How exactly is this not a thread about comics and cartoons? I agree with you in that there's too much live action and Samurai Jack spam bullshit, but your bitching doesn't have anything to do with it.
>>91245627
>implying rec threads are about comics and cartoons
Oh you poor naive thing. Rec shit is first of all utterly pointless because if someone actually did have an interest comics, they'd just look into it themselves, as you would with any hobby. Second, the people asking for recs only seek the names of titles they can rattle off to deflect suspicion when shitposting.
For too long /co/ has lacked any implicit barrier to entry, and our desperation to not be like /a/ has made us a dumping ground for memespammers, /pol/-tards, and shitposters in general.
We need to get ourselves some standards, and fast.
>>91245863
I'm not talking about the "concept" of rec threads. I'm talking about the actual reality of this thread- comics have been discussed. Period.
>>91245885
That discussion is tainted by the stench of newfaggotry. Any discussion worth having is had with someone long familiar with the material, and not some retard newbie who has to ask for information in a society within which exists a massive infrastructure designed to be a repository for information.
>>91246082
Jesus, that level of conceit solely for reading a comic before somebody else.
That's some next level narcissism.
Also, rec threads are /co/ related because they get people, new and versed in the scene, into stuff that they haven't looked at before.
It's sad to whine at a post because they asked for a recommendation. It's even sadder to actually make a ton of posts bitching about people wanting to know what comics to read,
>>91246264
>they get people, new and versed in the scene, into stuff that they haven't looked at before.
No they don't, you blithering idiot. It has been proven time and again that no act of heaven or earth will EVER get new people into comic books. Publishers have tried it, fans have tried it, everyone has tried it and not a single goddamned thing works. You have some fucking gall to call me narcissistic when you think you're gonna be the motherfucker finally bringing some fresh readers to the medium.
Again, and it kills me that you don't get this, NONE OF THESE REC-FAGS ARE ACTUALLY INTERESTED IN COMIC BOOKS. You need only look at the sad state on /co/ itself for proof. But no, you and everyone else choose to delude yourselves into thinking everything is just fucking fine.
Well it's not fine. This board is shit! And it's your fucking fault.
Oh fucking Christ, just ignore the autismo that always gets buttravaged in rec threads. Just stop giving him any replies, he's been doing this shit for a long time now.
Anyway, what do you guys think about The Wild Storm? I'm really enjoying it so far, I think it's good that Ellis kept the transhumanistic technostuff/shady organizations from old Wildstorm but it still feels fresh and not rehashed. I was worried it would be the same old, same old, instead of trying to do some daring stuff.
>>91246650
>"Okay everyone, if we ignore the problem, maybe the /tv/ and /pol/ shitposters will just go away!"
Goddammit, /co/, you're like a battered spouse at this point.
>>91246725
Cranky, I know you have to vent somewhere when evening threads aren't happening, but you are the problem you make yourself, here.
>>91246650
I'm intrigued, second issue gave me more to go on because first left me thinking "Is this interesting in and of itself or mainly because I know the outlines of who and what these people are and that's driving my interest."
>>91248312
Yeah, I'm the problem, not the cross boarding shitposters and idiots who constantly spam memes and hate threads. The board is going entirely to hell because we let ourselves take this bullshit up the ass, but that mean ol' Cranky is the real issue here. Uh huh.
>>91242982
I wouldn't say Millar is essential, or anything past Ellis. Ennis' Kev stories are fun though.
>>91240840
people only talk about the Authority, but Ellis' Stormwatch was a better comic
