I have never read Red Hood stuff until his rebirth series with the Outlaws and the start was really great, the series has some really good moments here and there, no idea why I am buying it but so far I feel no need to drop the book.

I like him because he's an original emotional portrayal of the character coming back to life cliche.

Rather than just showing back up as if nothing ever changed he had to get used to the fact that people moved on yet everything was still the same. His death meant nothing to the world at large which gave him adequate motivation to change it by any means necessary his second time around.

Currently, RHaTO is doing pretty well.
What is more: I wasn't interested in his history, me not being a batfamily reader (varely a DC reader, to be honest). But out of curiosity, because I saw the book relatively high in the lists, I put myself to read the new run. And it's fun and well done. Jason book, Supes book, Supersons book Titans and, at times, Dick's book are the ones I'm looking forward every month/15 days. I'm not as interested in other runs as these 5 (well, maybe Wonder Woman, but I read it once in a while, when there're a few issues out that I didn't read).

I would say that the winner point in current Jason is that he's somehow relatable and has a nice, self aware inner voice. And he has good teammates to counterpoint him.

That's the reason why Bruce cared so much for Jay in my headcanon: because he felt Jason deserved someone to be cared ans loved by.
