Jack was perfect, an eternal underdog Aku could conceivably overcome but probably never would.
destroying all the portals was supposed to push things into endgame. either Jack defeats Aku, and the game resumes next time Aku is released, or Aku kills Jack, and the game resumes when someone else picks up the sword

instead they've gotten stuck in this depressing stalemate where both feels victory is impossible but they can't just call it quits and start a new game
