The last season was a bit weak tho

Usually people who lambaste Ed Edd n Eddy only watched the school seasons, where characters got flanderized (Eddy no longer capable of not screaming when he talks, Double D almost too much of a goody two-shoes to associate with many of their schemes because muh education, Ed just trying to be quotable), slapstick turned up to 11 and the writing was not very clever.

Your just listing the formula of the show and characteristics of characters, very loosely may I add.

EEnE had an immeasurable amount of GOAT jokes, fantastic slapstick and a cavalcade of quotable lines. Watch the show again and observe the perfect timing a lot of the jokes had, some of which you never would caught as a child.

The characters, though simple in concept are very memorable because of the talented voice work and the surprisingly complicated personalities some (especially the Ed's themselves) have. Even during the "back to school" seasons where the show started to lose itself, it still had plenty of memorable moments and jokes. Some episodes I dare put on my favorite episodes list like A Fistful of Ed for example.

And do I even have to mention the fantastic sound work? The sound effects make certain moments that much funnier.

Basically I agree with you, any one of these shows would only be "average" but because of how highly people pretend they were all something amazing, it makes the reality of what they are, actually more like "shit"
