Ugh, RJ in the last panel looks terrible, yet I can imagine old zack using one facial expression on the other, as to see a grotesquely joyous smile with bits of normal skin in the under-lighting instead of a very dark grey muppet consistently out of the shadow of the hood who was shown to have natural toned pale skin less than half a page ago, with Johnny trying to hold back how proud he is.

Aside from that one flaw, it's still humorous, and I'm just happy we're moving on at last.

Not even that. The whole "non-binary" thing, near as I can figure while keeping an arm's length from the whole shit show, is basically not being anything in particular. It's why Johnny says he goes by "they" and not "him" or "her."

I judge webcomics by the standards of other webcomics. By comparison the story here is very coherent and doesn't ever get sidetracked for long. I'd like more webcomics to pop up that are good enough to judge them all by higher standards, but you get what you get.

The saddest part about all this? It's not even the hamfisted ramrodding of Zack's ideology into the comic just to spurn a portion of his reader base or the degradation of his art style or the loss of the once incredibly funny dialogue. It's the fact that Zack has absolutely no reason to change. Check out the subtweets about the last page. Those people don't care about good storytelling or funny jokes or art; all they want is another pandering voice to validate them. Zack wouldn't ever listen to valid, well thought criticism because he would only see in it an attack on his principles. The worst part is that, in his mind, the cost for upholding his principles was hijacking and destroying his own work, and all for the sake of sending a message. I thought these were supposed to be the tolerant, sensitive and compassionate people, but all I see is unbridled hatred and zealoutry. It's a shame.

I still think it's just one page. We've wasted far more pages with other annoying stuff, like the ethnic lesbian date or the autistic girl being autistic. We also wasted a whole page with Flipflop's "story" and people didn't react nearly as bad as they did with RJ. The fact that you're pretending this is not because of non-binary stuff being talked in the comic is hilarious to me.

It was just a fucking page, it was non intrusive, it was funny enough to be harmless and once they mentioned it they moved on quickly. Yet it will be remembered as the epitome of "glacial pacing worst comic". Just accept it's because Zack talked about something outside of your comfort zone and stop making excuses.

Hmm, rereading bits of the comic, the scene with the normies at the bar was surprisingly good. Violet and Cody have some good tension there. I'm genuinely interested in them.

The art is worse and some of the character designs got bad (Lisa, RJ, Isabel, Alex, etc), but the comic's not as bad as it used to a year ago.
