Because the writing in season 1 was NEVER cliche. Every single moment was unpredictable (outside of in-series gags like that one).

Season 2 went somewhat downhill but still had episodes like that.

It was too loud and spastic, the writing was a major downgrade from the pilot, and Disney felt like it was an unnecessary expense.

Disney meddled a lot with it. Titmouse was trying to build something a bit more serious with more world building and more overarcing plots initially, but Disney just wanted an episodic cartoon and they made a whole bunch of other mandates. The only good one was making Mike a goody two-shoes when they originally planned for him to be a bit of a jerk.
The weirdest fucking one was them demanding that the mechanic girl was dropped from the Burners because boys don't want to watch TWO girls on the team.

That's what /co/ loves about it. The premise, plot, dialogue, acting, and concepts were mediocre. The cinematography, art direction, character design, and animation were great.

The vehicle designs were so great, especially 9 lives, whiptail and blond thunder. The animation was spectacular and I desperately need the soundtrack.

The fact that Motorcity had Mark effing Hamill voicing a twisted corporate dystopian villain, and HE was overshadowed by Dee "Twisted Sister" Snider's over-the-top car-obsessed rock n' roller villain? That alone should've been enough to keep this show going.
