To be fair Clarence doesn't have the staying power a lot of other shows (including much worse ones like TTG) have. It'll be remembered as a slightly worse EEnE of the new tens and retire gracefully.

>nuPPG
I thought that series was losing money? Just put it in indefinite hiatus and keep selling the toys. Hell, just air the original series, no one will care.

>Apple and Onion
I remember seeing that pilot. It was a mediocre British accent Regular Show. Shame it's getting a show instead of something interesting like Infinity Train.

I think it might be becoming a standard to give a series two seasons right off the bat. At least for CN.

Because the corporations that run the channels only give a shit about marketable and cheap-to-animate shows, that's why innovative shows that have an overarching storyline are on decline nowadays.

No room for creativity or art, just what prints money, and that's the sad truth.

>Disney and Nick have a better future for cartoons than CN

the only cartoons on Nick that have a future are Spongebob and The Loud House.

Spongebob's probably never gonna die at this point even if his creator does and The Loud House is the first Nicktoon in ages to rival Spongebob in ratings.

Other than that, Nick is more dead than CN with cartoons

>>
>>91166035
Why do they bother putting pilots online if they just end up green lighting completely different shows?
>>
>>91166142
It needs to look as "inoffensive" as possible, meaning it shouldn't look too unique or different, otherwise it'll cause normies to avoid watching it because "ew, the art-style is different from Adventure Time and other shows, I don't like it.".

That's why you're seeing so many shows that have characters with large heads and noodly limbs with bright primary colors with little shading, they're essentially forced to copy this artstyle or otherwise they'll make kids avoid them because they don't recognize it as a cartoon made for them.

I mean, really, I knew people who hated shows like EEnE and S1-4 Samurai Jack because their artstyle was different from other shows like Kids Next Door and Billy & Mandy. I don't doubt it's the same situation here.

hey bro saying this from a stand point of actually knowing people at disney but all of the reboots are extremely messy.

tangled rushed to get board artists because nobody wanted to work on it, nobody is happy with bh6 because nobody knows what direction to take it and had multiple people leave mid way. duck tales seems to be the only one that has a grip but totally negates that for the fact they fired all of their revisionists at some point for no reason.

one promising cartoon doesn't guarantee the prosperity of the channel when they cancel them so quickly.

You misunderstand me. After the miniseries was released, it was put out somewhere that Long Live the Royals was going to get a full series. Since then, however, nothing has been said on the subject.
>>
People ITT don't seem to get that Infinity Train would be 100x more adventure of the week than "muh deep high school english class" lore like they crave. Not saying I'm defending the lineup though.
>>
>>91167396
>Twelve Forever is objectively shit
I take it you are looking forward to Summer Camp island then
>>
>>91167185
Infinity train would require at least a decent sense of continuity, and if SU is any example for how CN handles that (screwing with things to make "bombs" the norm) then it wouldn't be great to have a second one.
Twelve Forever is kind of interesting but would get stale extremely fast. 12 can't deal with thing, goes into imaginary-verse or whatever, learns to solve problem/resolves using powers, dude helps her stay grounded. Then eventually things would probably get kind sad or the show dies on a cliffhanger. Also I doubt they could keep Curry because his health isn't that great anymore.
>>
>>91167619
at making cartoons?
yes!
>>
>>91167187
Is it? Is it really? Because I remember Flintstones not looking like Yogi Bear not looking like Underdog not looking like Scooby Doo?

Even if you want to say they did, then answer me, why is the level of detail now reflect greater limitations when we are in an advanced age? Yogi bear was simple because cel animation was expensive. The effort and level of detail clearly was capped because limitation, but it never showed a regression.

>>91166035 is simple... For what? Does it really look like its using cels?
>>
>At the Creek, the rules of the outside world don’t apply in this kid utopia of untamed wilderness where Craig and his two best friends have ventured and tribes of children reign over tree forts and dirt bike ramps. The adventure series is created by Matt Burnett and Ben Levin, formerly from Steven Universe.
Uh oh, this sounds very similar to Mr. Enter's crappy cartoon idea. I wonder how he'll react.
>>
>>91167806
out of those three, Craig of the Creek looks the most promising
>>
>>91166035
Those character designs try to look unique, but fail to do so. I'm liking the look of that background, though. Hopefully, the actual show can keep that style.

George Gendi also helped write five Sanjay and Craig episodes:
>Road Pizza (S01E12b)
>Prickerbeast (S01E15b)
>Curb Dawgz (S01E18a)
>Hot Sauce Boss (S02E01a)
>Cuddle Buddy (S02E10b)

I've recently started watching reruns, and I've gotta say that the show's not that bad. There's tons of flaws, sure, but it can be pretty funny as well. I'm gonna check out these five episodes and see what I think.
>>
>>91166763
If I could just walk into a studio and pitch my idea, I would. Unfortunately, it's not quite that simple. It's damn near impossible to get that opportunity without connections, let alone get greenlit.

>The newly reimagined series is executive produced by Nick Jennings and co-executive produced by Bob Boyle, and will continue to further Cartoon Network’s commitment to STEAM education with two additional themed episodes this season.
I assume they mean STEM, but anyway, this whole "STEM education" thing is cringe-worthy. The old Cartoon Network was about embracing childhood, not pushing children to grow up and enter the workplace.

What I meant by my post here >>91166103 is that Nickelodeon only seems to give a shit about cartoons that are an immediate success.

The Loud House got extremely lucky very early in it's run, it could've very easily gotten the Nicktoons death treatment like Harvey or any other Nicktoon in the past decade

So, how could it really have a future with cartoons when they don't give 95% of them a fair chance?

Welcome to My Life premiered alongside Apple & Onion way before CN posted the latter on their YouTube channel (http://www.animationmagazine.net/events/cartoon-network-shops-for-talent-at-annecy). It's been showing in various other animation festivals since then (https://www.regularcapital.com/2017/02/welcome-to-my-life-cartoon-network-studios-short-accepted-into-new-york-international-childrens-film-festival).

Legendary Place recently premiered at the GLAS Animation Festival on March 4th (https://mobile.twitter.com/calwong/status/837088865273905152).

People who've attended these festivals haven't said anything, so both pilots naturally fell under the radar.
>>
>>91169151
Despite what /co/ thinks, attending CalArts doesn't guarantee you a job in animation.

I know but it does make things easier. Jorge Gutiérrez, Daron Nefcy, Genndy, Lauren Faust, Alex Hirsch, Brad Bird, Tim Burton and many others went to calarts. And considering I'm a Mexican chick, things aren't gonna be simple. That's why I'm trying with Calarts, I don't think it's the greatest school ever but it gives you valuable connections and an overrated diploma.

TV episodes get millions of US viewers on their first airing, whereas YouTube videos are lucky to get a few thousand worldwide. There's definitely a huge difference in how they'll be publicised.

Also, if a show is aimed at an audience younger than teenagers, it'll be much harder to reach them. (Yes, some kids watch YouTube, but the majority of viewers will probably be teenagers and/or adults)

>le crush on hot popular gurl
Oh God no... let me guess, it's going to be yet another show where grade school kids act like teenagers.
Shows like The Simpsons can at least be somewhat excused because they're aimed at adults, but there's no excuse for representing children poorly in a show that's fucking aimed at them.
>>
>>91164916
can confirm this. CN is going in a more kid-friendly direction & shows similar to AT & RS will not be picked up. TTG has shown them that that age range is making a ton of money, so they're trying to cater to it as much as possible now.
>>
>>91171195
Actually, they're adults who act like nerdy children with poor social skills, so it's even worse.
>>
>>91171102
Oh, I guess that could work. It's still difficult for shows aimed at children though. I don't think a network is going to greenlight a show just because a bunch of old people on YouTube like it.
(Yes, I'm aware The Annoying Orange exists, but that was during a time when Cartoon Network was recovering and was desperate for animated content)

Stop watching.
Stop caring about what they do.
Support other sources of American animation instead.

Because everything worthwhilr on on CN will be canceled, or will be finished in a year or less.
Everything on Adult Swim is either Fox reruns you can see on a handful of other networks, reruns of old shows you can find online, new williams street garbage, or low budget, low-brow live action shit.
Everything on Toonami is something you can see at your own pace through a number of streaming services, instead of once a week like the shit is new.

CN is like an old car you really love. It's not the car you fell in love with anymore, it's riddled with problems that weren't there before, and it's age is showing. Eventually it's not worth fixing anymore. Squeeze out those last few miles, and then junk it.

The problem with this line of thinking is that being 'the idea guy' is by and far the easiest task in creating something new. Unless an idea is pure gold (most aren't, hell I don't think I've had a pure gold thought) that won't be enough to get anywhere.

What you need is either some hard evidence of quality or overwhelming public support. And the latter pretty much never happens to new properties but for reboots/adaptations/extra seasons/etc. However, if you had the support of a storyboarder or an artist or a director or a large enough guaranteed potential audience, your case would be much easier to make. Even better if you're one of the first three already- that's how we have Genndy's dynasty of shows ranging from Family Guy, My Little Pony to Fairly Oddparents and Regular Show.

And the only way to join such a dynasty is to join a team of an existing show, and to do that you need the proper training, connections, credentials, and skill. So we're back at square one of either needing to go to an Art college and hope to be picked up for a team to ride your way through the ranks, or to be an independent artist with a good enough idea to be granted a series/special/short without having to put the team work in beforehand.

Fred, Breadwinners and Annoying Orange come to mind.
>>
>>91177491
The right one. It's very 90s.
>>
>>91177249
I've been not caring for years. It hasn't worked.
>>
>>91178289
The last cartoon I was actually interested in was Gumball and CN somehow managed to fuck that up too recently.
>>
>>91169026
Anyone wanna guess what this pilot's about? The title and image are all the information we've got.
>>
>>91178411
How so? Recent gumball has still been good overall.
>>
>>91178365
Well shit, might as well not try since the bar is already set so high
>>
>>91178289
Apple & Onion...I liked the pilot, shut up
>>
>>91166468
I was one of those people who was turned off by EEnE because of the art style.

I was a kid while it was running though, I started to appreciate it more when I got older
>>
>>91178365
Breadwinners is not an example. The creators had worked in the industry beforehand.

The Annoying Orange MIGHT count, assuming there aren't details I'm not aware of. That being said, it was greenlit at a time when Cartoon Network was desperate for animated content.

I've never heard of a cartoon called Fred.

Craig of the Creek *might* be good

Ivandoe looks the most promising to me even though we know almost nothing about it.
>>
I have an idea for a cartoon about three gay-acting 10 year old boys. They believe walking to the toilet is a waste of time, so they just pee their pants whenever they need to go.
>>
>>91178750
This concept screams 10 seasons and a theatrical film! You're hired!
>>
>>91176927
why
>>
>>91178289
Craig of the Creek could be really cool.
>>
>>91178849
Cuz blah blah waifufags blah blah blah!
>>
>>91169699
Out of all the pointless SU episodes, this was the most pointless.
>>
>>91164959
It usually takes two or three years for something to get greenlit

For example, Adventure Time's pilot cameout around mid 2007 and didn't see it's proper release until 2010

Too early to say, but Ben Adams did work as a character designer on the pilot.
>>
>>91178295
Egoraptor, PsychicPebbles, and Oney all had shots at coming into the industry, but their cushy autism preventing them from breaking the mold.

MaxG(Hotdiggetydemon) had, and utilized, the oppotunity to pitch a show to Nick, and YotamPerel made animations for TripTank, on CC. Zeruel also made animations for TripTank.

In fact, Nick held a sort of animation casting call awhile back (which is how the Loud House got made).

So, if you want to break into the industry, I suggest you impress someone in the industry (that's how Johnny Bravo made it to air)
>>
>>91179044
There are no pointless SU episodes.
>>
>>91179178
>It usually takes two or three years for something to get greenlit
It's rather awkward when you think about it. Cartoon Network is aimed at ages 7-11, so by the time a show gets greenlit, more than half the intended audience has already been replaced.

This is REALLY concerning to me. Not just the fact that he can't explain, but the fact that someone out there who works for Cartoon Network thought it was OKAY to leave it like this. I'm kinda scared.
>>
>>91165010

did it even air in the us?

fuck. i need more of this

I have an idea for a cartoon. I have no idea what it's about, or who the characters are. All I can say is that it's going to be awesome, so please greenlight it.
>>
>>91179274
>that's how Johnny Bravo made it to air
Wasn't Johnny Bravo part of the What A Cartoon Show?
>>
>>91179283
That's just how making cartoons works. It takes time and you have to edit some ideas before approving them.
>>
>>91166996
>why shop your show around a network when you can post it on youtube where potentially millions will watch it?
You have it totally backwards. TV shows can get from tens of thousands to millions of views on their first airing. YouTube cartoons generally get around 10,000 views total, and that's counting people who watched it multiple times.
>>
>>91179600
Johnny Bravo started out as a short the creator made for a thesis during school. He showed it to his professor, who had a friend that worked at Hanna-Barbara. The professor showed it to the friend, and he liked it. CN was desperate for new content anyway, so the friend pushed for the creator to pitch it to CN, and they decided to make a What-a-Cartoon short for it, which was eventually picked up and took India by storm.
>>
>>91171102
I've been thinking of doing this, but I want to save my best ideas for the hypothetical TV series, as any story I post on YouTube has already been used. Also, as someone else has pointed out, it doesn't work so well for shows that are meant to be aimed at children.

Why would someone here want to make a cartoon? Nick, CN, Disney XD/FUCKING KEKE) are all trash networks to work with. Plus the only way they would ever accept to greenlight your show is if it would be a comedy, and we all know they would be dum comedies with terrible artstyles. Personally i plan on simply working on existing shows with the Storyboard, backgound designs, character designs and help woth the kids message in every episode. If you REALLY want to make a decent show then try Netflix

My idea is a comedy, but it doesn't have the limpy arm style.
>>
>>91179276
Except all of them, right?
>>
>>91180149
Of course I want to make a cartoon but fuck the networks. I'll do it on my own. With some friends. And loads of kickstarter money.

Is there a mass audience for Netflix cartoons? Or would it be like YouTube where each episode gets a teensy tiny fraction of what a TV episode gets?

Is Netflix our only hope?

I mean, they got Voltron. That could be the spark that leads to a wave of better, all ages to adult animation!

Right?
>>
>>91180551
Not sure but Voltron is doing pretty good with a third season coming. They just made an LWA Anime and will remaster a popular manga. In short, Netflix is saving animation.
>>
>>91180605
>They just made an LWA Anime
Um no. Netflix has nothing to do with that they just got the rights to broadcast it. And they're being stupid and waiting until all the episodes are out to put it up in one big batch which is basically asking for piracy. You can't watch the episodes legally even if you wanted to because of Netflix dumb rule that everything has to be uploaded at once.

Am I too old to go to art college? I'm pushing to 23 and I recently graduated with a grad in graphic design.
>>
>>91180743
Yeah, that's what I implied.

Never mind that fact that "um"s and "ah"s are only verbal filler when you're organizing your thoughts, but it's commonly used enough there that I can reliably say to go back there.
inb4 "u no they use it bcuz u go there" No, you faggots post enough screencaps of your stupid shit here all the time.
