I kind of don't care for some reason, I've fallen like dozen of issues behind with Archie Sonic at this point because I didn't think series recuperated after loss of characters Ian worked on for years, and he couldn't quite fill the void for me.

I think addition of characters like Honey is nice and all, but I am honestly always more excited about returning characters. Like Kukku.

The problem is that it's been like 40 issues of just mainline series and I still don't feel like void has been filled.

Anyway, if another Sonic comic were to take Archie Sonic's place, what kind of tone or style should they go for and who should work on it? Anon, I think it's time we stopped denying the fact the comic just can't be saved at this point. The reboot was a bandaid that ultimately didn't hold.

Besides, Sally and the Freedom Fighters have lost their purpose. Thanks to Sega introducing its own cast, they're completely arbitrary, only enjoyed by those who hold nostalgia over their original selves.

I think Ian took this a little too seriously, there's nothing wrong with doing a two-year setting in order to get Sonic to go around the world. It's just so much of that time felt plodding, the pace would shift up and down and I don't know, I never felt I really did learn that much about 'Sonic's World'.

From what I've read, it seems to be looking that way. The book pretty much died to me when it rebooted and a lot of what I liked went away. I tried a few times to get into the reboot, but I just don't like it and miss what was lost too much.

There's gotta be a compromise. I know it's the norm to say "I hate sonic friend gameplay!" but I do not give a shit if Sonic's friends show up if all they are is a voice over a radio. Generations at least utilized them a little in certain stages, if not in the most fleshed-out, thoughtful manner.

Personally I don't mind Boost being back as it's fun to play, but the two biggest disappointments to me are the inclusion of Classic Sonic & Sonic's friends not being playable. Outside of that, everything else about Forces sounds good.

Apparently, SEGA said that "the theme of Forces is teamwork & the forces of good vs. the forces of evil." How the fuck can you live up to that with two playable characters (that's just a younger & older version of the same character) I don't know, but I guess we'll see. This better be the last time we Classic Sonic in the 3D games, I know that much.

My guess is that when they add the characters back, it'll be done 3&K style, where they'll have similar gameplay to Sonic's. But they still haven't decided what gameplay they'll stick with.

I said games, as in the entire series. If Sonic doesn't get good games, there's a chance of the franchise dying. And guess what: The games still sell regardless of quality. The point is that this is a chance for the games to put Sonic back in a golden age. And considering that Sonic is the only big IP they have (The others they focus on aren't as big), I'd say Sonic dying means the ultimate end of them.
