April 29th sees the release of Doom Patrol #6 by Gerard Way and Mike Allred – even though it should have been out in February.

There are serious delays with the comic, by Gerard Way and usual lead artist Nick Derington. As a result, DC Comics has cancelled issue 7, 8 and 9 of Young Animal‘s lead title, though plans to resolicit them at a later date.

The earliest it could be is July so either way, Doom Patrol #6 will be the last issue you get for some time.

I love Shade and DP, but Cave and Mother Panic aren't quite doing it for me. Mother Panic does have a pretty good art showcase, as different people have been drawing each arc. Something about Cave's writing bugs me and I can't quite place it. The art is nice, but kind of hurts my eyes.

That's what I think they keep referring to.
The Doom Patrol has always been at the fringes of the DC universe where things like reboots, resets, and other middle fingers to continuity don't really have an effect on them, and when it does, they remain fully aware of it.

Way's Doom Patrol has had a bunch of call backs to the end of Giffen's run.
SOMETHING happened, and that something was Flashpoint, which is known to Mr. Somebody since Ambushbug told him at the end of the run.

Now we have hints of Mr. Nobody returning, and he'd be very much aware of what exactly happened, or at least know more than the rest of the characters.

Though that's all just speculation on my part.

Except of course, as we reported, orders for the seventh, eighth and ninth issues have been – for now. And July being the earliest they could be resolicited for. He also writes,

I’ve heard some chatter but don’t worry Doom readers, the series is alive and well.

I’ll be talking about Doom Patrol and the rest of Young Animal all weekend at WonderCon.

We are going to take the time to tell the best stories. And, there are absolutely many more issues to come, as Nick and I have lots of plans.

There are two relevant panels at WonderCon, a Young Animal panel tomorrow at 1pm and a Gerard Way Spotlight panel on Saturday at 1.30pm, both to be attended by Bleeding Cool reporter Matthew Quitney. Expect some actual clarification there and then.
