Just had an interesting thought about Ssaelism. Ssael is said to have entered the Khert and killed the gods, hence the Ssaelit telling the Gefendur their gods are dead. But the Khert is somewhat beyond linear time, so what difference would killing them have for human time? Did (does?) the gods choose to stay linear along the human time scale? Does the nonlinearity only apply to memories/souls?

But more legit I have no idea what the state of "heaven" is in this series. Ssael must've been real, but I don't know if he killed any gods. And, I don't know what spoke to Bell of if it was delusion, but I'd be surprised if it was Fat Yerta erself.

Linear time has to apply to the khert to an extent. Most likely I think the khert as it normally interfaces with reality progresses in linear time, but because everything is stored in the khert you could also potentially access scraps of things from a nonlinear time. If the khert was wholly nonlinear everything would be in the same/multiple states all the time, which isn't what we see.

Mind that there's something weird going on with blood and magic in Unsounded. Sette's jar to control Duane is blood, and a similar thing was used by Quigley when he attacked the guard station.

Karl is extremely interesting to me. At the very least he seems a lot more self-aware than most Crescians we've encountered.

Well, one is crazy and the other one is arrogant sociopath so I can let it slide. Not sure if Chea will though.
