Best case scenario, it bombs and Sony sells the whole Spidey stable to Marvel.

And I love Venom too, so it would be a painful necessity.

Who gives a shit? What's gained by being in the MCU?

I can see a R rated movie based off Venom working but that's not the problem I have with Sony trying to do this.

My main gripe their basically trying to start an extended universe using characters based around Spidey...without Spidey which pretty much defeats the point of doing this.

Venom may work but I can only imagine Black Cat working just as well as Cat Woman.

I think that Sony is just trying to play it coquette for the time heing in order to goad Marvel into making an even sweeter deal for them, i can't imagine they'd pull the rug out from their own moneymaking machine by withdrawing Spidey from the MCU like Amy Pascal says they might do after 2 movies
