Pretty good week, actually. Even JoJo broke 900k which is cool since Joseph vs Whammu is an awesome fight. Sand Whale and Me didn't have a massive drop either like episode 1.

I'd just like to ask if Tokyo Ghoul Episode 1 is indicative of the rest of the series, because if it is, this may be the most hilariously edgy garbage I've ever seen, and I watched both SAO seasons and AGK on Toonami.

Any show airing at 1 is going to beat any show airing at 2:30. If that's the best Ghoul can do then it's fucked.

Premiere weeks are never a measure of a show's long-term success; they're always higher than average. The real test for Tokyo Tryhard will be next week.

So Anime Boston is holding a Jojo panel on Saturday. They're apparently going to be some announcments, as well as a showing of the first episode of Part 3's offcial dub.
Coupled with Richard Epcar's recent tweet, it's safe to assume Season 1 of Part 3 is complete, and may be heading to Toonami soon.
That said, will they air it shortly after Part 2 ends, or let it take a break and let a new shortrunner step in for a while?

The way Part 2 ends might create a bit of interest, since it directly teases Part 3.

You're right, OP's problems didn't start with the crappy timeslot. The 4Kids dub really did ruin it for TV broadcast. It began airing right at the peak of the anime boom in the US, but it missed out on building a fandom because of the garbage dub.

Compare that to Naruto, which had a great dub at the same time, and aired almost completely uncut. So of course it did better, and ended up becoming CN's highest-rated show for a year or two.

So now ten years later, Naruto has a huge nostalgia advantage over OP. Which means plenty of people are willing to overlook the trainwreck plot or the endless filler because 'MEMBER NARUTO? I LOOOVED NARUTO! 'MEMBER SASUKE? I 'MEMBER!

America does like it, though. The DVD's are some of Funimation's best-selling titles, it's Crunchyroll's second most-watched show, and the manga sells really well (Viz keeps all 81 current volumes in print at all times, which is a huge investment. You don't do that for a failing series.)

I think they were born and trained prior to the rest of the events of Season 5. They were trained over the course of probably 16-18 years (since they all seem to be teenagers), and then sent after Jack.

I think the way they cut it, having the flashbacks to their birth and training during Jack's stuff against the Beetles and Scaramouche was to establish that this has been Jack's existence for quite a long time now; it's not new that he's on the bike using guns and armor, he's been at it for probably years, if not a good portion of the 50 years he's been in the future.

Hueco Mundo has a neat aesthetic until you realize it's minimalistic solely so it was easy to draw.

I think it's about time someone laid down the law to the Piss fans. Let's get real here. The common man outside of Japan and Asia doesn't even know what the hell a One Piece is. They'll probably think it's some kind of pancake restaurant. Yet a series like Dragon Ball is pretty much a household name worldwide (Actually worldwide. Not bias sales.) and some even know what Naruto is if you asked a random person.

OPfags ALWAYS gossip about how there series is THE most popular and best selling anime/manga around the planet even though I NEVER see such instances like some other ones. And let's not forget that One Piece has been cancelled on American tv THREE times! But yet there is still this delusion that it's a legend. Actions need to speak louder than words, my mans.

One Piece's "fame" is overblown, overestimated, and overrated by it's fans. The only ones who speak about One Piece's "hot" topic status is them. It's the same principle as MST3K: put something horribly written in front of anybody who isn't a total stick in the mud, and making fun of it is the best way to get through it. Sure, one could ask why you're watching something bad in the first place, but plenty of people watching Toonami have nothing better to do.

Personally, I actually have a group of friends I watch the block with on campus (because if it was just the general every week I probably wouldn't watch more than 1-2 shows each week, including Jack), and I look forward to spending every episode of Tokyo Ghoul cracking jokes at the edge.

I LOVE OP and am sad about this news but the show had a 4 year once a week run and only made it from Davy Back to thriller bark and that's a problem. Anyone that managed to actually get invested had a multitude of other options. I mean you can read what the covered in 4 years in one free afternoon if you're really dedicated.

Here's hoping that they're smart enough to get Stardust Crusaders; it's the most well-known JoJo, it's heavily action-oriented, and it'd start up after Battle Tendency ends, right in the middle of Samurai Jack's run and continuing long after it. That'd give the block a fighting chance, I feel.

One Piece started sucking though. The time skipped happened and everything in the manga was horribly paced.

Every page had them zipping around from one fight to another without focusing on one group or person at a time.

It really ruined the manga for me, cause while you're starting to get in to a battle that's about to happen-WHOOPS GOTTA GO TO THIS OTHER BATTLE INSTEAD AND SO O AND SO ON etc.

Its beyond annoying.

One piece has too much going on narrative my at this point to waste time with super-decompressed multi-chapter fight sequences and is better for it. If you want Shonen battleshit BNHA has got you covered and will undoubtedly be coming to Toonami in 2018.
