How did the quality control even work at Lucasfilm. These days it seems they have the final say on their products, but back in the EU days you had writers getting in pissing contest trying to one up each other with every book. For instance Traviss killing Mara Jade without consulting with Zahn. Did she actually do it on her own accord or was it a decision from the story group for her to die at one point in the LOTF series? Was it the Disney buyout and management changes that made them start actually checking the shit that comes out?

Plenty of the stuff in Commander and Uprising has shown up in comics, novels, and even Rebels.

Commander even got included in the Ultimate Star Wars book, which only included content from 1-6, Son of Dathomir, A New Dawn, TCW, and Rebels. Purely canon only.

Commander is just where the very basic "yeah, Lucasfilm still approves of this design" first appears because its so easy to implement.

Dexters diner is now in the underworld of Coruscant, instead of having open air access to the surface. This makes Obi Wans secretiveness in finding Kamino more apparent by delving into places where Jedi normally don't seek information. Dexter is exactly the same except he has an eye patch That sassy droid waitress has a blaster, and jokingly warns Obi to not cut anyones arm off she'll shoot him.

Droid factory scene in AOTC is replaced with Annie force-choking his way into Poggles Palace.

One more scene in PM with Sheev telling Annie he needs to embrace power to save Naboo, and another scene in AOTC where he's teaching Anakin about politics.

The movies need no major structural changes to the plot, just some slightly different scenes and character traits is all. George was visionary in creating a great story, but I wouldn't mind making the story more to my liking.

Sadly the modern age has made people way too expectant of death.

TCW was an odd exception because they had Clones that were much more expendable than usual, and the creative team realized that they truck gold because they could develop Clones and make the audience love them, while keeping them on hold for an easy expendable death. This is part of the reason why TCW seems much more violent. Remove the Clones, and the death in the show was much closer to Rebels, only higher because the show often took place on the front lines of war.

For the most part, Star Wars is sparring with death, and thats not a bad thing. It's weird when I see people asking why none of the main heroes have died yet. Like, come one, none of the OT main heroes died. I'm sure Kanan, Rex or Zeb will kick the bucket eventually, but if you have a tv show to work with, why rush it?

Since its inception, a number of planets grateful for being freed from Empire control decide to stay neutral, and not to join the young alliance of planets. These independent planets are most notably on the outer rim. Over time, a small number join the Republic; but a handful decide that being independent works best for them so they stick to it.
