But Black Lightning/Vulcan was a big deal because he was on tv and left an imprint, sort of like how Superman made super strength a standard for heroes to the point where it's seen as boring because everyone copied it.

Furthermore, lightning wasn't really covered super well by heroes; a lot of villains did lightning, but not a ton of heroes, so when black characters started being made, it was a logical powerset to tap into.

In terms of story telling, he makes a lot of sense to be a member of the League.
But god I do not like the design at all, the abdomen and limbs look absolute shit. I like the head and chest + shoulders though. I can excuse the shitty cgi in the trailer since there's another 8-9 months till release but I doubt the design will change at all.

Technically, Cyborg fits the league very well and is a very good replacement for MM. He has the shapeshifting and coordinating/team communications parts down while having a unique power set (robotics and electronics) that complements the rest of the team and shields him from criticism of being "a green Superman".

He also fits the mythological aspect of the league makeup in the form of Hephaestus.

The only downside is that, like other anons have said, his character really isn't that fully developed and is a bit of a blank slate. Still, if they were going to replace MM with anyone on the league, i'm glad it was Cyborg.
