This is Cottonmouth
Say something nice about him
>>91090965
you were the best thing about the series you were in.
>>91090965
He died like a bitch
>>91090965
adopt my gay black son and teach him to swim.
>>91090965
Hopefully he’ll do better in the Battle Angel movie.
>>91090990
He had it coming, pushing Mariah like that.
>>91090965
I don't like this kind of shot.
Too on the nose.
>>91090965
They should have never replaced him with that goofy nigga with the janitor jumpsuit. My god he looked so fucking stupid, what a terrible ending.
I think there's something a lot of people didn't notice about Cottonmouth. In the scenes showing his childhood, Aunt Mabel refers to the prostitute "Boygirl" as a "he" whereas Cottonmouth calls Boygirl a "she." Boygirl was probably transgender and (I know this'll sound Tumblr) identifies as a female. Cottonmouth recognizes this and respects Boygirl, a subtle difference that shows him as being more empathetic than Mabel.
In the same scene, Cottonmouth suggests that Boygirl should be able to defend herself. This is a very egalitarian idea -- that women should also be able to fight, not just men. But Aunt Mabel, who is shown to follow very traditionalist beliefs, immediately snaps at Cottonmouth for suggesting such things.
I haven't seen anyone bring that scene up, but I believe it brilliantly displays Cottonmouth's character.
>>91090965
Won an oscar. And he deserves it. Every role he plays is amazing
>>91090965
great character, amazing actor. the villain that came after him whose name i forgot was fuckin garbage, reminded me of samuel jackson and his hammy style of acting. the councilwoman was an alright antag though.
>>91090965
He's the best character in any Marvel Studios production.
>>91090984
*Only decent thing about the series
>>91090965
He was the better villain
>>91090965
NIGGAS FIGHTING OVER RANGS NIGGAS WANNA BE THE KANG BUT
>>91091124
He was doing that intentionally to make a point to the person he was talking to.
>>91091397
It was Sister Boy, not Boygirl.
>>91090965
MR.
STOKES
Never Cottonmouth
>>91090965
he's a meme villain taylor made for reddit
>>91090965
I DIDNT WANT IT
I've watched every single Marvel Netflix show due to an abundance of time and a lack of self-respect, and there's one egregious problem they all share: they're all five episodes too long.
Without fail, it seems as though the writing teams write a solid eight episodes worth of material and try and stretch it out to thirteen. So, you end up with these sloppy, limp-dick "third acts" in every season that introduce new elements which all suck and culminate in final battles which all suck.
In Jessica Jones, they catch the Purple Man the first time in EPISODE FIVE of a total thirteen episodes. The first time you have your villain dead to rights should be the end, or at least the beginning of the end of your story. Instead, it drags on, focusing on characters and story elements no one cares about and stretching the audience's suspension of disbelief to its limit.
The first thing they need to change moving forward is to make shorter seasons, full stop. But I don't imagine they will.
>>91090965
He didn't deserve the hand we was dealt.
>>91092297
deserve ain't got nothin to do with it.
>diamondback can't have a scene without quoting the Bible
Shit got tiring
Anyone else think them naming their big villain "Silverback" was super fucking racist?
>>91092327
You want it to be one way, but it's the other way.
>>91090990
god damnit, came to post this
>>91093155
Dude, it was Diamondback, not Silverback.
>>91091939
Oh, whoops. S-still.
>>91091397
Yeah that was pretty clever.
Cottonmouth should've been the one to get a hold of that power suit and duke it out with Cage.
I loved the absolute contempt he had for someone who he knew was strong enough to tear him apart.
He died doing what he loved: talking shit.
He sure knew how to hit the stage.
>>91090965
Made the show.
Everyone he spoke to or did business with and everywhere he went felt all the more important because he was there or involved.
Everything after him was a slog.
>>91090965
Best villain
Him genuinely crying on his own over Pops death sold me
he has good taste in clothes
>>91091124
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UrVGKVExsJU
Watch the whole scene, it's all intentional. He knows what he's doing.
>>91090965
he had a great laugh
>>91091036
That is still gonna be a thing?!
>Christoph Waltz was Doc Ido
Wat
>>91090965
I just wanted him to play organ and be happy.
You were right, and your sister was a bitch. Best thing about the series you were in.
Did she want it?
>>91090965
His cousin is fucking hot
>>91091124
Yes he is a glorious winged faggot.
Thank you, based director for making that even more clear.
>>91096153
hi Shades
>>91093778
Wasn't diamondback a grill?
>>91096153
Alfre Woodard is one fine sixty-something.
I like his chuckle
>>91091019
heh, nice one
>>91092184
>But I don't imagine they will.
Defenders is only 8 episodes long, so you might be wrong.
>>91090965
He was the only truly good Netflix villain.
>>91100413
>not liking Fisk
Shit taste, fag.
>>91100474
Fisk is still developing into proper Kingpin, unlike the rest of the villains. I'll reserve judgement until s3.
>>91100766
That's actually a fair point and I'll have to join you in that.
I've enjoyed him so far and, while I doubt they'll fuck him up, I should wait until he's a full-fledged Kingpin.
>>91095067
>Ey yo Mr Stokes my nigga I went and shot up that Mexican you said we was gonna peacefully talk with
>And don't worry about your best friend hating you over it I killed him too
What was that dumbass thinking?
better villain than "I'M LUKE CAGE!"
>>91091019
Fuck man I came here to post this
you proved that /co/ really does have a soft spot for generic boring businessmen in capeshit
just when they're not white
>>91091397
I don't remember anything about pronouns, but I'd took that seen as him telling her to man the fuck up and Aunt Mabel being the accepting one.
>>91101283
*scene
>>91090965
You were more interesting than the other villains.
>>91090965
He knew how to book some damn fine music in his club.
>>91095186
>You're like the busboy or some shit and he calls you up, has you sit in the chair.
>'Does the crown line up?' Ok scoot up a bit more.
>'How about now?'
>'Now?'
>'Ok you can go. Tell anyone about this and I'll break your legs.'
>>91090965
>When your life so fire it comes with its own mixtape
Cockroaches and the ratshit, uh, hand me downs with the patches.
Mama Mabel put a little money in the mattress, taught how to make a silver spoon out of plastic.
You can either sink, swim or be the captain. Get the last word, I'mma get the last laugh in.
Now they saying, "Cornell why you dressing so classic?", I don't want my best dressed day in a casket.
>>91101283
I think the exact phrasing was "Maybe Sista oughta put her hands up like a brutha." I picked up on the pronoun part, but I took telling him to fight back not as egalitarian put just plain practicality.
>>91101446
God yes. he should have been the villain for the whole fuckin season dammit. The whole black v black v white, corrupt business/politics for a "worthy" cause situation with his sister, etc., versus the basic street-life issues that all that caused in their community that then Luke Cage was trying to deal with, all that shit was fucking gold.
You want an example Marvel can have a good villain? This motherfucker right here.
>>91091576
yep. him, and then the soundtrack.
>>91090965
I'm tempted to rewatch Luke Cage now.
>That Cottonmouth
>That soundtrack
>That Misty Knight
>That BLACCNESS
I loved watching it back in September/October man
>>91100239
>Show with the most characters has the shortest runtime
What did they mean by this?
If Luke Cage had ended season one at his death it would be the perfect LC show.
Deserved so much better and the actor is phenomenal too.
Never mind that guy, who wants to talk about my DADDY ISSUES?
>>91104661
>Short flashback of Cornell and Mariah's childhood revealing their devastating influences, habits and missed opportunities that lead them to become passionately driven but overly ambitious individuals attempting to redefine the face of their community in their image.
>Episode with multiple flashbacks dedicated to showing two thots fighting over some horn dog pastor.
>Revealing nothing aside from the fact both hoes and bastard children are a nuisance then and now.
>Don't really want much of anything for anyone, just sort of like to flex.
>>91101631
>calls you back
>real quick sit on top of this book
>okay
>now you can go
>>91090965
>claims he wanted to be a real musician
>likes Biggie
See, this was his true downfall. Hip-hop is not real music.
>>91090990
>>91091115
>grown-ass muscle man
>easily pushed out of a window by his womanlet cousin
The fuck was up with that.
>>91104661
>MUH BROTHER
These are always the laziest and worst kind of protag/antag conflicts.
>>91090965
SUCCESS
>>91090990
>>91091115
>"I didn't want it" repeated over and over again
Did she not want it, /co/?
>>91092184
I agree. A lot of filler in Marvel Netflix. Look at Stranger Things. 8 episodes long and just right. If Marvel could pace things better, it would be even better.
Lame ass villain and shot. Did he marks on the floor so he knew where he lined up with the photo? give a break.
Making him fly into autistic rage at his comic book name pissed me the hell off. Being named Cottonmouth because he had cotton in his mouth? How fucking boring. If they really didn't want to give him the filled sharp teeth they could have at least made him skilled practitioner of poisons. That at least would have been a cool reason for his name. Nah instead lets just have gangster man.
>>91105289
They shouldn't have killed him off and certainly not that soon.
But that scene was pretty great.
>>91105407
I don't see the relationship between poison and cotton, you're dumb.
>>91094643
lol
>>91105289
she started by fucking braining him with a bottle
>>91105342
i mean she was molested and possibly raped repeatedly by her uncle
gotta figure that a sore spot for her
>>91105474
lol you can't be seriousunless if you're being nit-picky about the differences between vemon and poison
>>91094643
You're a savage m8.
>>91104661i actually liked him
he felt like an over the top comic book villain
he seemed like the type of guy to build a criminal organization based around shitting up his brothers life
>>91091124
>>91105589
That's why he felt out of place. They kept talking about how down to earth and realistic they wanted the show, and then they brought in this guy.
>>91107003
What was Hammer thinking?
>>91095186
I forgot how good the soundtrack was in this show
>>91090965
Nice ashtrays
>>91105309
Heard you talking shit
>>91090965
THAT IS NOT MY NAME
REEEEEEEEE
>>91104661
CAN
YOU
DIG IT?
Sweet Christmas.
I did really like cottonmouth. I always already attached to him and the council woman as antagonists but I felt they switched to that Muh Brother dude last minute, and kind of out of nowhere. I didn't like him that much he wasn't that entertaining to watch and the Bible quotes got old, I joked he was a Tarantino Villan.
Overall I did like the show. Luke Cage is a very likeable protagonist and I love watching him run around and bend the shit out of guns.
I liked all the shows so far, overall. Have not watched iron fist yet. I heard it is the weakest one so far?
>>91110138
It's not terrible, just boring
>>91107003
>How do we bring in any tension whatsoever to a show about a guy that can't be hurt by bullets
>Have a guy come in with MEGA BULLETS
>Brilliant
>>91090965
died too early.
>>91090965
You're the second best villain in the best superhero universe currently being made.
