I think he's unnecessary, but he filled a role here that Tim wouldn't have been able to fill it and made the whole scene pretty funny.

I still can't fathom why they gave us Batman and Robin Eternal over this. Frankly them just hanging around like this would have been much more entertaining than the shitfest we got.
