I think they're gonna draw this shit out even more so that S4 will be the HYPE series finale (not that I'm complaining). If they started S3 in April, knew they were renewed by December at the absolute latest, and likely aren't finished yet even now, I don't think they're going to finish all the plots.

What I'm curious about is if the S3 finale will be "Toffee Wins Yet Again" or if they're actually going to have Star achieve some sort of minor victory without him totally losing, to show the tide might be turning a bit.

were the case, we wouldn't have a Season 4 at all. There would be no reason for them not to cancel it right there, considering they're going to have to put money into a fourth season too.

Also I'm pretty sure with cartoons with plot, at least on Disney (basing this only on Wander Over Yonder), you have to sort of pitch the kind of plot you'd be doing for additional seasons for Disney to approve. Daron wouldn't have gotten a Season 4 if all she said was "lol i dunno c:"

AU talk huh?
I've been playing around with an idea for an AU that's based off of old school Sword and Sorcery themes, featuring Marconan the Uncivilized.
I haven't made too much work on it yet, been gradually working on some general ideas so far. Luckily I've had some help from other people with great ideas.

I mean, yeah that could happen: Eclipsa was never mentioned before Season 2 but seems to be pretty important now, though people knew there would be an important character with spades because of Miss Heinous before Season 1 was over, so even that doesn't entirely count.

I just don't think they're going to end all existing plots to do it, just build on them the way they did this season.

Because if they do really want to end all the major plots in 3 and then do something totally different in 4, it pretty much means Season 3's handling of those plots will have to be completely perfect 10/10 total masterpiece for Daron to NOT look like a hack. Because if Season 3 and 4, in this scenario, are any less than perfect, fans will wonder why they couldn't have used 4 to devote more time to the major plots instead of wrapping them all up quickly and sloppily.

It doesn't mean that the plots will necessarily be handled better if continued across all four seasons, but it does mean they'll have more time to develop and more chances to be done well.

Naw, there's other ideas for the rest of the cast but nothing is set in stone yet since it's all still in the work. Generally, still working on what to make each character exactly to fit the Sword and Sorcery theme.
I did have the idea to make Tom an Elric proxy, a tragic character that has good intentions but makes the wrong (read really bad!) decisions.
