We don't have any weapon powerful to fight them that isn't a double edged sword. Saying 'Well we could kill ourselves faster than you can kill us' is one hell of a pyrhhic victory. It's also the plot to a Doctor Who episode, but that's beside the point.

This isn't transformers where you have physical bodies but a core of energy, and their numbers are small enough to deal with; their bodies can't be damaged permanently without damaging the core, and even then they can be repaired. When they go insane, they turn into rabid monsters that attack everything, rather than half functioning rust buckets.

Is she really? People always point to the thousands of years thing, but just being alive for that long doesn't mean she's been training that long. As I understand it, she doesn't really fight other gems that often barring a single war 5000 years ago. Most of the time she's fighting inhuman creatures that don't use swords.

I also question whether gem swordfighting would even be effective for a human. Gems are mostly invulnerable other than their gem, meaning they don't really have to develop their defensive skills as much and also lets them do all the impractical spinning shit. Judging by how little they know about humans despite being here for millennia, I'm not sure it would occur to Pearl to teach Connie how to defend most of her body.
