God dammit. I figured the Archie series was on its last legs but I was really hoping Overdrive would squeak through before it all fell apart.

At this point our best hope might be another comic publisher getting the license and releasing it themselves. I'd love for IDW to release some lavish reprints of the old Archie material.

To be fair, Ian was on the book for like a decade. Between the main series and Universe he probably wrote over half of all the Archie Sonic comics.

It just sucks that the last few years of the comic's life were hobbled by a shitty editor and other circumstances beyond Ian's control.

And despite the reboot getting rid of all of those Penders characters, a (now former) editor of the comic decided to sell reprints featuring characters that they didn't own the rights to (Penders characters & Fulop characters), which might have lead to the current situation with the comics.

Nope. He's attempted to sell merchandise based off it, and he's shown character designs and like one or two preview pages but it's been like five years since the lawsuit was settled and he hasn't produced anything.

I think announcing the comic and trying to claim ownership of the characters was just a gambit to get royalty money for free, and it failed. Now he's stuck trying to save face and pretend he still wants to do this comic but it's been clear for a while that he has no genuine interest in it.

Anyone have that tweet where he says the Enchiladas abort and eat their children?

Not sure, but I think the reasoning is that a photocopy can be faked, while an original copy is harder to fake.

Either way, Ken's argument rested on the idea that he never signed any such document, so even if he did somehow have the original (which he shouldn't anyway, Archie would've been the ones to keep it) it wouldn't be in his interest to show it to anyone.

Someone's Mega Drive order got cancelled a few weeks ago from a different site. Every other site I've seen either hasn't updated the dates or just constantly pushes it back a week.

I think Previewsworld is a site from Diamond and they do a whole big comic catalog every month, so that may give it a bit more credit than others, but I'm not sure.

In any case, there's clearly no date for Sonic Mega Drive coming right now.
