I don't know what the St. O's one is (Bad Boy?) and I don't think I've ever heard of Morning Star nor seen/heard much out of Janna vs.

But Monstar is basically an AU where everything's the same except Star is half monster born of Toffee, and that alone puts it in shit tier for a variety of delusional canon-ignoring reasons (cucking River way out of character despite Moon's love for him being real, ignoring the fact Moon tried to kill Toffee just to ship two people that have absolutely no logical chemistry with eachother, etc.)

Boy Star is just genderbend and Blind is just making Star into another character entirely to the point where half the identity of it being Star vs is pretty lost.

Suffice to say a lot of those AUs are mid tier but Shipping Wars is open to interpretation in most of the better ways you can afford for an AU, has a fairly unique catch, and isn't nearly as unimaginative. It's at least higher than mid. Ludo vs I haven't seen much of so I wager it's high or god.

I'm not saying she's going to be killing younglings anytime soon but she's already succumbed to temptation to use dark/forbidden magic, is suffering badly because she can't deal with her emotions, has repeatedly been compared to Eclipsa and was the only one who read Eclipsa's chapter without being corrupted/possessed. Ludo didn't last a page, Star read the whole thing and basically said "no big deal".
There's no reason to believe she's going to become an outright villain, but it's very likely she's going to face worse temptation and if/when Eclipsa returns I'd expect her to at least make an offer to train her in dark magic.

I'm mostly a straightfag but I don't find Girl!Marco appealing at all for some reason. I don't think her chemistry with Star would be as good, as friends or otherwise.
Star and Marco are basically bros and she's pretty tomboyish, so Star being a boy changes less about their dynamic. If Star still develops a crush, the conflicting orientations angle would make things even more tragic and complicated for Star, which is a definite plus.

Star is tomboyish but still has some very girly behaviors and hobbies. Marco has a feminine side but he's still masculine, if insecure, in most ways.
As far as preserving their dynamic, and exploring a romantic one, I think campy Boy Star works better with Marco than boyish tomboy Girl Marco with girlish tomboy Star.
Most of the ways her character could be adjusted would end up with too much overlap with Star, especially as Star moves into her less spastic Season 2 characterization.

Before this hiatus I hadn't visited FFN in a literal decade.

Star and Marco try to help each other deal with the aftermath of "Storm the Castle", starting right after and continuing into the events of Season Two.
Despite the title, it's not romance. Lots of sweetness mixed with drama, veering into psychological horror but never going too grimdark. If you like Starco and suffering it's the story for you.
Still ongoing, seventeen chapters long.

Starco romance/adventure, set after Bon Bon. Also written after Bon Bon but before most of the rest of Season Two, so there's some weirdness.
Awkward beginning and ending, but the stuff in the middle is really solid. Characterization for the core cast is totally on-point, some chapters feel like they could be episodes of the show. You just have to look past some weird interpretations of side-characters, like the author assuming Ms Heinous is St. Olga. Definitely enjoyable overall.
