I guess it's an unpopular opinion here but I really like VLD Allura, but then I just like the "strong-headed/overly willful" typing in general w/r/t waifus.

All the "GRRRL POWRRR XD" accusations seem like pure projection as well; Allura never uses her gender itself as a point of pride, or acts like it gives her some inherent advantage, or smugly taunts enemies for losing to "a girl XD" and she's supportive of the entire main cast equally.

There better be a damn good explanation for that magic asspull, but she's had a decent, albeit rushed arc. An example I see as an improvement over DotU Allura is the axing of Alfor's AI/spirit. She's unsure of what to do has to rely on him for motivation in the pilot, which is understandable, she's been freshly orphaned and lost everything she once knew. But having her continually run to him for advice like in DotU would get frustrating. Forcing her to kill him
and step up as the leader she was raised to be was so satisfying. There's no reason for her not to be a queen at this point.

I actually like it better that she came around on her own, in part because it does that narrative twist of putting her previous actions into a different light; all the instances of her being cold to Keith are not purely DEUS VULT racism, but signs of her internal conflict. it helps that (imo) the voice actress really nailed that dialogue where she confesses to Keith about it.

Characters coming to terms with personal flaws on their own seems pretty rare in these kinds of shows, I wish it would happen a little more often

Unfortunately it was a little different in Allura's case seeing as though she only recently found out her entire race and culture had been destroyed by the people in question. Hard to just call her a dumb bitch and tell her to get over that. It made more sense that she had to come to terms with it without someone telling her what to think.

It should be enough that the narrative clearly painted her as being in the wrong at every single turn. Ulaz and Kolivan both rebuked her, and the audience was clearly meant to side with them. All the times Keith tried to subtly get her to lighten up and she just got mad, we were supposed to be on Keith's side. Then after everything she admits she was an ass to Keith and the Blade and finds out there is an evil Altean.

Voltron still gets its ass kicked a lot and that is good for tension, but it makes me wonder how long it will be before Voltron really feels like the most powerful unstoppable force that the show makes it out to be. I'm all for it losing to Robeasts and struggling often early on while the team still feels like rookies, but just how powerful will it be by the time we reach S6 I wonder?

Also do you think there is any possibility of Earth Voltron, or a Lo-tron that's a legit combiner robot to rival Voltron? I'm kind of hoping for both.

Earth Voltron will probably be what Jet Alone was to the Eva units in NGE.

I wasn't anticipating a combiner, but I could see it if they characterize more Galra to act as the anit-Paladins.

Hopefully there's some kind of deeper mystery/power involved with Voltron and the way it reacts to the lifeforce and emotional bonds of its' pilots, since right now it just cuts up big spaceships real good. Which is awesome, but not very unique.
