People who actually understand how privilege works, aka sociologists, see it from something like this. Privilege and Oppression co-exist and happen on multiple levels. For example: White Privilege is a thing, but white people can experience oppression from other sources, such whether from socio-economic, gender, etc. However, these oppressions tend to make people overlook their privilege. White people tend not to notice the inherent benefits of being white, rich people don't understand the mindsets of poor people, etc.. These things are not "tumblr", but the results of history and societal trends. The general tumblr attitude towards it is just very dumbed down, simplified, and america centric because this is the internet and everything is dumbed down. Why I'm giving this rant at 3 in the morning, on a random bait thread on fucking /co/ is beyond me, but there you go
