With only the occasional exception, of someone writing a comic just to "fix" things that may not even been broken, most 1990s comics were written purely to entertain readers, and even the worst writers and artists had a level of craftsmanship in knowing how to structure a superhero story, that seems to have been lost totally. Even lost by people who were there in the 1990s and are still around.

That started in the 2000s, when Marvel would hire any writer from outside of comics with a little name-value, a lot of them had to learn how to write for comics instead of for novels or television.

But now, Marvel hires people who write webcomics, or columns for Comics Alliance. It's more important for a book to be written by someone of the same race and sexuality as the character than be written by someone who can actually write a comic.

Marvel is going to choose agenda over quality at every turn, they're going to dial it up a notch in "protest" against every political development they don't like, and keep digging this grave until Disney replace their entire editorial staff.
