I liked BvS, really enjoyed the UC, but Wonder Woman and Doomsday could have been saved for another movie. I say it almost every thread, if you remove wondy you get rid of the clunkiest scenes (the second party especially made no sense in the theatrical cut, the email with youtube clips of the JL). And if you left it at batman saving martha you have those two becoming friendly in some way. Could have even had a superman AND batman beat down at the warehouse. Superman dying in the next movie after fighting Doomsday (what would be a phenomenal uniting force to bring metas out of the woodwork) would have felt like a real friend of batmans dying instead of a guy he regretted beating the shit out of.

The doomsday fight is one of the parts that actually does benefit from snyder-posters because the imagery is all fucking perfectly framed and created a pottery wheel that many reviewers would have appreciated had they paid attention.

But it still had no place in that movie.

Let me try to explain.I prefer DC characters to Marvel's all day every day. I adore them. As stupid and goofy as it may seem, the personalities and ideologies of DC characters have been something I try to carry within myself to shape myself into as good a person I can be. When people say Superman is boring and unrelateable because he is perfect I understand what they mean, feel differently. Superman may be perfect, but that doesn't mean I can't try to be more like him. Am I ever going to be Superman by trying to be more like him? Absolutely not, but I can still be a better person by trying to be more like him than I would be if I didn't. I find some personal gratification in that.
Now, despite preferring DC characters to Marvel's I still saw the Marvel movies, and thought they were enjoyable. They weren't trying to be anything complicated and brought the 2D characters to life without slaughtering any sacred cows as they did so. Eventually the Avengers was released, and despite enjoying it for what it was, I couldn't help but watch it imagining how great it would be to have moment like the Assemble moment in a Justice League movie which would be part of a shared DC universe.
When people were hating on MoS because of Snyder being the director, I personally thought his visual style complimented with a story endorsed by Nolan had the potential to be ground breaking. I loved all the footage we saw leading up to the release, and was in hype overdrive when I eventually saw it. When it was over I was let down. I tried bargaining with myself for months trying to convince myself it was better than I thought, but for everything done right, there was so much done wrong, and eventually I wasn't able to forgive the wrong with the right. That's the way I've felt about every movie of the DCEU since then. And here we are with the movie I dreamed about releasing this year, am I'm too pessimistic about it to feel an ounce of hope towards it.

They hate this thing on the premise alone, they hate the characters, which they feel either outdated or too serious or moralistic, and there is no winning them over. Wonder Woman is going to get a 60% RT score TOPS, and I can see it getting another 27%. What I can't see is JL getting anything above 30%, and notice that I'm not talking about the tone, the plot or whatever. That shit is going to happen no matter how the movies actually are. I'm glad you enjoyed both. I didn't. I was disappointed by both, and SS rended whatever hope I had left in this universe from me. I won't go so far as to vow to never watch a DCEU movie again, because not only is that extreme, but probably a vow I couldn't keep. What I will say though is that I have no intention of actively going out of my way to see one until it is generally received better than the first three were. If you like them you like them. I'm not going to tell you that you are wrong for doing so, because I have no right to tell you that you are wrong for liking something you like that I do not. All I'm trying to do is explain why I feel the way I do, and it really boils down to this. I wanted to love MoS. I don't know if I have ever gone into a movie with as much good will allocated on it's behalf as I did that movie. I wanted to love MoS. I wanted to love BvS. I want to love the DCEU. It's exactly what I did with BvS, and anon told me I wasn't being fair and needed to see it on the big screen to have a valid opinion of it. It's funny how for all these accusations of Disney shills, DCEU fans are the ones that often make the push to put down the cash. Funny thing though is that the complaints I read in most reviews after watching it were the same ones I had. I know anon likes to point out extreme instances of BS complaints which do exist, but among the many I read there were legitimate complaints that went beyond the simplified and often troped "It was bad. Just really bad. So bad." There was discussion of the tone, of coherence, of character likability, as well as other detailed complaints I agreed with. I know a lot of anons disagree with the critics and they have every right to. You asked me what I am looking for though so I will tell you. I'm not even asking for a better reception beyond something like:
>If you aren't sure whether or not to see this because you didn't enjoy MoS, BvS or SS, have no fear WW/JL is better than the movies that came before them.
If I see that, Ill probably run and buy a ticket. If I see people saying it is more of what we've got before or providing more detailed complaints that sound like what we've got before, I'll probably just wait to watch it with friends like I did when we downloaded the SS home release rip. We all hated it.

If anything how they look is actually the best part. Watching a dc action scene is like having ps4 to marvel's atari.

Its a day and night difference how shitty the fx and how bad are the MCU action scenes. inb4 cherrypicked spinning Zod. Civil war airport scene is utter shit. Looks like utter shit. Feels like utter shit. Directed like shit.

You can have a trillion valid complains about the DCEU, but looking bad is not one of them. Frankly is the only saving grace of Zack Snyder.
