nahh that sounds... too weird. More like... it is foreshadowing the current path that Jack is on. He's fighting for a possibly lost purpose. Probably better off living a normal life and hoping to stumble upon a portal instead of chasing them like a madman. Also notice how the wolf immediately went into an aggressive state when he saw the other creatures. Jack may share the same fate ad the wolf without a clear mind.

my theory is that its either some kind of phantom of his father, not the tortured angry one we've seen but his like warrior spirit. could also be Jacks warrior spirit. whatever it is I hope we find out soon and get over this fallen hero thing with Jack. I like it but if the whole season is just Jack running around living as a shallow of his former self until the end when he gets the sword back and finally defeats Aku and saves everything.

It's the personification of Jack's quest. It's scary, ancient and follows him everywhere giving him no peace.

It seems similar to the style of his culture.

It's a warrior dressed in old armor on a horse with a sword and flag bearing his allegiance.

Might be a phobia of his culture and moving forward. With saving his family, he's slowly become disconnected with his culture over the years and maybe he fears he won't be accepted if he were to return if he ever could. A fear of his inevitable success and return back to the past. A fear of the unknown future so to speak.

It pops up whenever his family begs him to go back on the path of riotousness and to return back to the past and restore his people's glory. It pops up when he was hiding under the shell, it was blocking his path to the temple which proved to give him a chance to get the upper hand on the Daughters of Aku. Blocking his path, Jack overlooks it immediately and bolts for it.

I think it's just a fear of him becoming his old self and fulfilling his destiny. Why it blocks his path and his goal, he's slowly becoming his old self I think and it's going to get better for him throughout the show as he continues to confront these inner demons.

I bet he's gonna have some bad ass symbolic fight with the warrior in his mind at the end which symbolizes he's ready to return home and save his people.

Or it's just some warrior that whooped his ass and stole his sword, who knows.
