I really don't understand how Marvel manages to do so bad in trades.

The only Captain America and Iron Man Trade in the Top 750 is a spin-off of Civil War.

The only Avengers or X-Men trade is "Avengers vs X-Men" and "ANADA".

90% of what they sell is Deadpool. The rest are Civil War related stuff, Wolverine and books aimed at young girls (Ms. Marvel, Spider-Gwen) and even those are outsold BIG TIME by "DC Super Hero Girls".

They launched a wave of books back in 2015 (Unfollow, Red Thorn, Lucifer, Clean Room, Sheriff) and only Lucifer is left from that launch. Each of those titles got like ~5k sales before being canned, with the exception of Unfollow falling off the Top 300 so we don't totally know what those sales were like.

They seem to launch strictly 6-issue stories now, designed entirely for the trade audience

and the funniest thing is the galaxy at large considers Earth a shitstorm magnet and humans trouble with a capital T, with most aliens/species preferring to avoid the planet.

FUCK the Invasion storyline from back in the day was pretty much all the alien empires of the Universe trying to nip Planet Earth in the bud before the humans fucked the galaxy

This last run started so strong and became boring and rote almost immediately. Took six issues to tell a 2 issue story. Looks really pretty though.

What makes you say that? I'm thrilled with this. Hopefully Superbro anons who were upset at his seemingly being shuffled off stage to bring Superdad into the mix, and folks upset for varying reasons towards Wonder Woman and Batman within the context of Superbro can chill out and just enjoy some of the best Superman comics we've had in years. We've all got both boys back, and they are rocking one of the best costumes Superman has ever had. It's a great time.

As you can see Snyder wanted Bluebird and Lark to be the two main partners of Batman. So I wouldn't be surprise if Harper Row appears again.

More like Reeves/Keaton

In fact I wish they'd do an adaptation of Batman Triumphant

It's both a shitstorm magnet and redneck backwater. Though it also has a total of like ten aliens, most of whom live in America, so I'm not entirely sure that people would give that much of a damn.

>Some of the best Superman comics in years
Except for Superman being mediocre and Jurgens Action Comics is straight up bad.
>>
>>90916889
I'm really sorry you feel this way. Action has been forgettable, but Superman has been a breath of fresh air, as well as a warm blanket on a cold day rolled into one. While there may have been bright spots, New 52 Superman comics were on the whole mediocre to bad in my book.

Despite the quality of previous runs, Tomasi's Superman isn't much of an increase in quality. It's the same crossovers and DBZ tier punchy shit that Lobdell was writing. Issues 7 and 10-13 were decent, but everything apart from that was really bad. Tomasi can't really write a decent plot.
>>
>>90917976
>the same crossovers and DBZ tier punchy shit
I don't recall a crossover in Superman yet until Reborn. The first arc was about the Eradicator coming after John, and Superman not only establishing himself as Superdad, but formally reintroducing himself to the world. Next was Jon and Superman working on Jon's homework and winding up in an homage to Darwyn Cooke. Wasn't much punchy there, in fact there were a few great Superman moments as there was before. Then came the Fair issue, the arc where Jon met Damian, while Bruce and Clark hashed out their trust issues. There was a Jon solo issue in there, and Reborn, but beside that, I don't know what you're talking about comparing it to Lobdell, or calling it really bad. I mean I know people have hateboners for Tomasi, but this is some of the best stuff he's done in years. It's been fun, comfy, sweet, and full of great Superman and father/son moments. It's a bit of a bummer if you can't find anything enjoyable in that.

>>
>>90918240
The first arc turned into a mess when eradicated arrived. The dinosaur stuff didn't offer anything other than Superman flying amidst dinosaurs to find a device.
>It's been fun, comfy, sweet
That's the biggest problem with it. It's just dumb, comfy and empty with no real characterisation or good storytelling, with an actual plot.
>>
>>90917976

I remember when DC Superhero Girls was announced, and half of the /co/ thread was either "not muh" bitching or adult men complaining that DC dared make something that didn't interest them.

Ollie and Dinah are that couple that breaks up every other week and reminisces about the times they broke up in bed.

>>90931616
Shit, I wish I could remember who it was who reviewed it, but I remember someone reviewing "Supergirl: Being Super" (a title designed for teenage/younger girls) with a view of basically "I can't fap to this, so it isn't great"

/co/'s always had a problem with understanding that comics and associated media can be made that aren't for them specifically, and that those properties can still make money without them.

I have no interest in DC Superhero Girls, but I'm still happy stuff like it exists.
>>
>>90931773
he said it wasn't as good as the Loeb Supergirl but he still gave it an 8/10, oddly enough

>I have no interest in DC Superhero Girls, but I'm still happy stuff like it exists.

Same here, anon. Most of the stuff aimed at girls and women I ill just ignore, Unless it's complete dogshit like America
>>
>>90896766
Finally getting to this guy
>>
>>90932506
Well, quality aside, the difference between stuff like DC Superhero Girls and stuff like America is that the former shows knowledge of the audience it wants and aims for it, while the latter at best is tone deaf and innocuously replaces books the old audience liked, and at worst is hostile to said audience and seeks to replace all of that line.

Diversity, including in the sense of genre and tone, doesn't have to be poorly used, and I think DCSHG shows that.
