By giving everyone the same treatment it fully brings back everything from pre-New52 but also continues the New52 so writers could just ignore their old memories if they wanted or do something with them. Hopefully Manhattan will have done something like messing with Barry's perception of the Pre-Flashpoint world, and what was incorrectly remembered was left behind and existed and that is what was carried over into Convergence. While separate, that remnant continued living and doing its own thing differently than it might have had the whole remained intact, and now merged back together, those differences while separate prevent a complete reboot back to exactly what we had, but allows a merge of the two halves of our first El family that feels a lot more like it did before Flashpoint...except better than it had been following New Krypton which I really enjoyed.
