Jumping down would be pointless because he'd never catch up with the falling sword and they both would be lost down there forever.

Getting it back would be an episode of the old series. He would have some weird trial and error gags before remembering some super deep spiritual lesson about loss and overcoming loss etc then he gets his sword back just in time to go save a village.

If it fell into a time portal, it already exists in his world, since it's already gone back in time. He just has to go find it, or ask some mystical whatever where it is.

Unless the time portal went forward in time. In which case, he'd just have to figure out what time to wait for it to show up.

Supposedly the Guardian time portal will be addressed in some way, so it may also still exist.

Well, the higher up you jump, the harder you land.
The same principal applies to falling down a hole. It's not about surviving the fall so much as whatever makes you stop falling.
