Just re-watched Rogue One, Christ it is so fucking good, I like TFA but this thing was vastly more authentic feeling & bold then that did.
Ending from when the Destroyer's crash into each other onward is just beautiful & the score for that couldn't be anymore perfect.

When I saw it in theaters it hit me when Jyn & Cassian dropped to their knees on the beach "this is exactly what you wanted out of this movie, this is utterly perfect".
I really can't think of any flaws in it beyond a tiny few nitpicks like the bar thugs & R2/C3PO cameo's being unneeded but even they were decently well handled and didn't break the momentum of the film at all.

Force have mercy. I just tried to listen to Empire's End as an audiobook. Emphasis on tried. I don't think I've had many experiences less pleasant than that. Mercurial Swift has Dengar's voice, Leia sounds like a wallflower, Jas is Zangief, and Temmin.... Just damn Temmin's stereotypical rebellious teenager voice holy sith. Never again. The difference between the Tantive launching from the Profundity and and just swinging by to nab the Death Star plans is negligible. Leia had no importance in the battle except running away with the plans, which is exactly what she did by launching from the Profundity

What are the other options anyways? Tantive IV fights in the battle, does nothing and runs away; Tantive IV gets passed the plans shortly after the battle, away from Scarif which adds nothing to the plot; Leia is present at the battle, but gets passed off along with the plans to Tantive IV after the battle. The ship has to end up with Leia and the plans no matter what, so what's wrong with launching from the hangar, and immediately setting up ANH?
