In Jump Good: Aku probably nearly died but managed to sneak away at the last moment while dropping/shattering the time portal. You realize that whenever Jack nearly kills Aku, he's cornered in the Pit of Hate with no place to escape. In the outdoors, there's infinite cracks and crevices.

In Magic Fish: Jack just cut his way out. He has a sword after all. He was just disappointed and sad for a moment, notice that he's not actually worried or scared for his life.

Also in Birth of Evil pt.1 The three gods in the beginning literally chopped Aku into dozens and dozens of bite-sized peices with magic weapons that were distinigrating him in the same way Jack's sword does, but one tiny chunk managed to escape the battle and entered earths atmosphere.

Aku is just really really hard to kill. If even a tiny bit of him is still left he can reform himself eventually.

Honesty this. I know the whole "oh you won't expect this" type ending is big right now, but I really hope Jack ends the way it should. He defeats Aku, goes to the past, defeats him again, and saves his old homeland. It doesn't need to be some over-elaborate dramatic ending no one would see coming. Make it emotional I guess since Aku will be dying and Jack finally succeeding, but don't over do it. I hope Genndy really ends this series on a good note and not some random disappointing ending just for the sake of it being "unexpected and completely left field"
