Kids bough Black Aracnhia and Airazor back in the day. They also bough old Arcee and Thunderblast toys.

Fact is unlike the neckbeards kids don't care about muh continuity, or muh sjw runing evertything. They don't even really care about the toys it's all about video games. The only way to get a kid to buy a toy is for that character to do SOMETHING cool or interesting in fiction.

That's why Transformers have been a Bumblee & Optim Prime show for so long, because they are the only two characters that get to do ANYTHING in movies, so kids only keep buying Optimus & Bumblebee toys and not giving a shit about anyone else.
