Aaaaand back to OP's topic.

The episodes are too much of a mix of good and bad, one episode's funny as hell, another episode is completely forgettable. A lot of the filler episodes rely on Richard more than anyone, and although he can be a great character, a lot of supporting characters never really got a major episode like the previous seasons gave them. I honestly think Gumball and Darwins VAs do an okay job, but comparing to the last two, they're the worst out of all of them.

Anyway, Season 5 of Gumball has been really good. I've been enjoying it quite a bit, though there have been some shitty episodes too. I think it started off pretty poor, not bad per se, but The Stories in particular was so dull I felt a bit put off.

I'm also noticing far more songs this Season. Mixed feelings about that. I love songs, but it's not why I watch Gumball and I hate when they try to do feels-y ones because often, they don't do them very bloody well at all. Drama is not the shows strong point, comedy is.

New VA's are alright, not huge on them but The Copycats was great.

I never liked that they couldn't stick to one consistent character design scheme. It's a disjointed mess of regular animation, or CGI and even live action stuff.

They also cant decide on one format, like do all talking animals, or talking food or just all random design people. I mean why have living food characters when it's shown that people EAT food?

It's just a surreal world with differant forms of media used. I think it gives the show a lot of variety and makes the characters more distinctive from each other. And what's so bad about having both talking animals and food? They're just making surreal character designs like in other cartoon Network shows such as Fosters Home For Imaginary Friends, Adventure Time, Regular Show, ect.
