Funnily enough, I actually got turned onto this album by Adult Swim. It's got a real solid groove to it that I enjoy. This track in particular has a real relaxing sound to it that makes you want to just chill out and listen. It also makes good use of samples - I really like that quote I'm almost certain is from an Ed Wood movie.

This is another heavy hitter from The Protomen. It starts off very somber, first with piano, then with Dr Light's quiet voice, then Proto Man starts into it, as the music slowly builds to follow him. The emotion slowly seeps more and more into his voice as he continues, his anger twinged with sadness. It's pretty good. That sad guitar solo usually gets me, too. And it ends with a determined march, where you know only one combatant will walk away alive.

This one's usually best enjoyed with the one that comes after it, but we've got more to go through tonight, so save it for later if you please.

I'm watching a rerun of Chowder on boomerang and I have to say the show wasn't that bad. I never gave it much of a chance when it was still working on CN when it was actually pretty funny.

Most battle shounens just give characters a couple signature moves rather than making them versatile fighters. Even Kakashi, who supposedly has copied something like a hundred jutsu or whatever, uses fewer than 10 different jutsu in the entire manga and most of those were in the early chapters. After his sharingan and raikiri/chidori get introduced that's practically all he ever uses, despite being his last resort originally.

This game is my childhood. One of the strongest memories I have is the first time I saw a Sega Genesis playing Vectorman. That lens flare alone blew my tiny mind, as did the faux 3d graphics and this groovy damn music. Even the options music is groovy. It just had a sound to it that felt like it was the future. Not just FROM the future, it felt like it WAS the future, if you can understand how a kid could get that from new technology.

But anyway, this is the theme from the first level of the game. It fits the pacing of the action pretty well - fast but not too fast. It feels like a game of handball - like the music is bouncing itself off a wall to play with its own echo. It's a cool effect, and neater if you're listening to it in stereo. Give it a listen.
