How does /co/ remember Tom Palmer, Inker? Were you there, then, or do you just know of him now through back issues? I was there and i hated only Bill Mantlo as much as I hated Tom Palmer. It wasnt that Palmer was bad. he was very good actually. But I felt he was too heavy handed and he smothered every artist to the point that everything he inked looked like a Tom Palmer book. He made Neal Adams and John Buscema Jr's work look identical, as an example. He didnt even call himself an inker. He said he was the Embellisher. Frankly, he ruined the Avengers for me for a very long time. I just couldnt stand the sameness of every single issue for years at a time no matter who pencilled it.
Am I wrong to think these things? Should we follow inkers or pencillers? Should they compliment the pencils or should they make every line their own?
I was flipping through some old issues and remember that Tom Palmer was a bane to my teenage years and I will be shocked if anyone disagrees.

OP confirmed as having shit taste. Palmer is a Sinnott tier inker. I'd get if you didn't like a more stylized inker like Janson (you'd be wrong) but Palmer was a bullpen favorite who everyone wanted to work with.
