He is the disgruntled 2nd in command, who felt that he could do the leader's job better. In fact it is arguable that he IS the best fighter of the four, but that he lacked leadership abilities.

Funny enough, he is my favourite in the original gamboy game. They are all technically identical, but I just felt he hits harder for some reason.

Raphael's always stood out from the other Turtles due to his choice of weaponry (a traditional garden tool, commonly used to trap an opponent's bladed weapon), but 2k12 Raph is noticeably more defensive than other versions, almost unnecessarily catty at times. It's a recurring theme in his focus episodes that he's much more sensitive than he lets on, most overt in his needy behavior towards Slash after the latter gained sentience. Even his stilted romance with Mona Lisa seems predicated on their mutually aggressive tendencies and her androgynous appearance.
