Oh thank god, Ramona was never mentioned in the book. My one fear and it was averted.

Which then becomes weird again as it refers to Raven’s Diary (which is the only known time that Maddie knows Cerise’s secret) and brings up the whole situation with Regarding Ramon’s mention in that story - which again, in this story they just talk about Cerise and her mother and father, and no sign of Ramona, they even bring in Cerise’s locket.

I’m sorry, but my Ramona theory might have some solid standing to work with
also, fuck stats quo endings. The first time they could have actually made Dexter actually endearing, and they remove it from memory.


also, Cerise revealed her secret to Dexter (again, not even mentioning Ramona) and Dexter forget at the end of the story.

Sadly, "Wonderlandiful wolrd" did the whole "memory erasing" thing better, because even in the end it meant something to Cedar for her character, especially when she tried to breath.

It's implied that Darling and Apple know each other in both the books and the series, which makes sense as they're both honor student princesses and it was previously believed that Apple would marry Darling's older brother one day. On the other hand, their relationship has never really been elaborated on while it is a part of Apple's backstory that she, Briar, and Blondie have been best friends since before they were nursery rhymes. Part of the reason Blondie's got that complex about being a princess is because she grew up with Briar and Apple and was a little self-conscious about the fact she wasn't technically a princess like them.

The books do have a little more emphasis on the fact that Briar is Apple's closest friend by a lot, followed by Blondie.

I'm growing to like the Justine pairing with Duchess, just don't want to see Duchess be cruel to her or it develop into some type of user relationship. Definitely like to see them interact more. It was nice that Duchess thought too that stealing her rival's shoes was crossing the line.

I really like the opposite dynamic that Ramona/Justine provides. Their personalities making any situation more interesting. That they're roommates is icing, making them get use to the other's habits and ways similar to how Raven and Apple learn to get along.

Duchess is a competitive jerk because she's extremely insecure and her two best friends being Sparrow and Faybelle is not good for validation.

She's second-best to other princesses in basically everything except dancing, so she defends her turf rigorously, and then Justine comes along. Someone who might be as good as she is, which, whips Justine into her competitive phase...

And then realizing as she gets to know Justine that the other girl is just about the first person she's ever met that genuinely admires her (this is already canon). I just like the notion of someone like Duchess, who is a big jerk but primarly because she dreads her future and craves validation but has no idea how to go about getting it, finally meeting someone that likes her and becoming a better person in spite of herself.

Admittedly, a major part of EAH's built-in rules is that a lot of the lethality or dark stuff is handwaved. They're acting out skits, basically, although those skits have long-term consequences which is where Raven's problem comes in.

They establish in the book that no, Raven does not become Apple's stepmother in this version and some things should not be thought about too hard. Badwolf doesn't eat grandma, Mr. Huntsman considers Badwolf using a smoke bomb to ninja his way out of their fight scene fair play and leaves it at, that and so on. Melody probably just does something harmless with the kids when she gets stiffed until the townsfolk pay her back in the EAH version.

But you're thoughts reflect things pretty well: Duchess already has this block about her own story and dancing is where she feels unstoppable. In the show it's to the point where she lords her ablities over the other girls. Justince is the only one who can challage her.

A bit of headcanon here: Justince's ablity stems from more hardwork while Duchess's is more natural talent/magical base (dancing on water). Duchess hated Justince's guts at the start but over time, with seeing how serious and dedicated she was, Duchess grew to respect her. Can see Duchess being tusdere when giving Justince advice from the side of the room, lol.

Interestingly, part of Justine's profile has her list some of her best friends, at which point she mentions she "royally admires Duchess for her dance talents."

So based on that, she really does think Duchess is pretty awesome, although admiring her talent might not be the same thing as liking her personality.

I 100% support the notion of Duchess being a huge tsundere no matter who she interacts with, though. I mean, she apparently really likes both Raven and Apple and look how she is with them.

I think Duchess would just be cruel to those she hated or just didn't care about. The tsundere wouldn't come unless she cared. And does she mean Raven and Apple or Rapple? Cause we know the staff aren't afraid of hinting at the femslash.

Why is duchess such a great character?

Duchess is that girl that wishes to have an ending like Cinderella, an ending where with such a terrible beginnings, it ends with beauty.

But if she goes the pathway that she does.

Duchess will instead end up like Juliet, but only without a Romeo
