What does /co/ think of Sjetpan Seijic's Sunstone?

Started reading with my dick out, then kept reading for the ins and outs of S&M culture. No idea if any of what's being said is bullshit or not, but I found myself kinda intrigued.

Ironically pretty vanilla stuff, as far as writing goes. Sejic isn't bad at making good individual moments, but him tying those moments into a larger narrative is, like with most webcomics, lacking.

Apparently the author is going to do a sequel with these characters here.
I didn't really give a shit about them in Sunstone to be honest so I'm not śo sure how that will turn out.

I liked the first volume or two. By the fifth one I didn't give a shit anymore and just wanted the characters to suffer more cause they were all fucking idiots and were wasting my time.

Gay characters are actively pushed by companies and lesbians are by far the safest choice because dudes(main consumer group) find it hot.

If anything it is a wonder there isn't more of it.

A lot of that community thinks highly of it because it's well researched and encourages safe practice. Later volumes are better with it because Sejic got advice from real sceners as well. It's not 100% because it needs to be in service of the soap opera story but it's significantly more researched than other media.

I think it's upper-tier porn writing. The characters are believable and I understand why they're having sex. That's very appealing.

That said, I wasn't heavily drawn in to the story. I found myself skimming a lot because at its front it's a fetish tale more than a romance. The twist is that a third girl gets involved and the first gets jealous, or the first girl gets insecure about things being more about sex than about their feelings. Like I say, understandable and probable, but it doesn't have the real sticking points of a good story and I feel like the most important part of things ended in the first chapter after the hook-up.

I'm kinda mad he took down all the porn stuff he did of it before the book came out. Cause the stuff he did before was on par with his Ravine art which is some of the best stuff I have ever seen. The porn was good as porn, but it was such good art I didn't even fap to it, just admired it.

I think it would if the porn stuff happens sparsely and is often used as a means to move the plot or something. Really, Sunstone is a romance comic with porn sprinkled in, not the other way around. And I'm fine with that.

It's really far up its own ass, and most of the characters need to be punched several times.
