What were /co/'s thoughts on Moral Orel?
So far the first season is really bland. People seemed to put it with Bojack on the melancholic levels. I just hope the next season shows it some justice.

Next season? Pretty sure the series ended years ago with Orel all grown up and married.

That's true, the first season isn't great, if you can get to the third season, you will have your Bojack tier stuff.
To le example, there was an episode that was so brutal that it got the shows third season cut down in size and lost it's wanted 5 seasons.

Much like Bojack, the second season is more well-received, the first couple episodes of both shows are pretty by-the-numbers, so it turns most people off

which episode was that?
Masterpiece, especially the third season.
While the first season is undeniable the least memorable, the gripping character drama that makes Moral Orel so worthwhile wouldn't have been as impactful without those innocuous beginnings. Everything from Nature forwards is reason why the show is so enduring, but it wasn't just the rawness of those episodes that gave them their punch. It was the tonal shift from a seemingly one-dimensional wacky Davie & Goliath parody to having that wholesome idyllic 'leave-it-to-beaver' style of american goodness facade crumble before your eyes and witness the heart-wrenching reality that it was being used to conceal.

The first season doesn't land as much if you don't have personal connections to fundie culture, from the last episode of S1 onwards it gets much more hard hitting

Season finale of 2 and season 3 is why the show hits so hard imo
