I bought the hardcover of volume 2 when it came out... in 2008. The series has too many characters that the narrative spends too much time on. Dave likes his characters and worldbuilding too much to tell a properly paced story. The pacing is glacial and nothing important seems to happen. I feel like I'm being constantly blueballed.
