I honestly don't know how to feel about this comic anymore. I get invested for stretches of time only for something so melodramatic to happen that it sets off my cringe meters and I lose interest again.

Today's author comment:
"Every time I got to Daisy’s dialogue in the 7th panel, I felt my own eyes tearing up a bit at how she’s upset, Paulo would definitely react the same way."

Yeah, this WOULD be a real tearjerker if I cared about Daisy or Paulo. Honestly, every major character at this point has acted like a major asshole. This isn't even a "they're just teenagers" thing. Nobody grows, most of the characters regress. The only characters that I'm not annoyed by are Matt, Jordan, and Rachel (she got better after the Tess arc ended). I remember someone in these threads once said it felt like Taeshi was projecting her mental issues on all the characters. I wouldn't go that far, but I do wish she'd make them easier to root for.

TL;DR I'm a masochist and that's why I still read it.

What I find odd about this series is how little Mike shows up and how little there is to his character when it seems like he and Lucy are supposed to be the absolute top of the bill.

A weird girl clung to him, he fell in love with a cute girl who left, the weird girl clung to him again, he managed to (kind of) get together with cute girl, he realized he hated weird girl....and we're kinda still there since it hasn't actually dropped the other shoe of the inevitable problem with Sandy.

We had this diversion where he said he hated everyone but there didn't really go anywhere.

Take her interactions with Lucy for example. Daisy talks shit behind her back and then pretends they're BFF's when everything is fair-weather. She'll throw a friend under a bus as soon as it affects the happiness of another friend who happens to be in front of her.

In the current case she could be throwing Abbey under a bus in order to smooth things over with Paulo. It's a nasty habit to have. It's not that she's wrong (Lucy was a bitch, and Abbey was being a dick), but she lack the integrity to keep that attitude once face-to-face with them, because she wants to be nice to everyone. It's hard to tell when someone is being sincere or just trying to be nice, and I think that's big issue with Daisy.

You know why I keep reading this not-furry webcomic? Besides it takes less than 30 seconds to get through a page and there's 3 a week?

"Unrequited" and "Dial Tone". Unrequited is great because Taeshi managed to completely flip years of bad writing in highschool. Using the unrealistic relationship against itself, She managed to completely flip the dynamic and kickstart the more mature drama. It's probably the reason Taeshi insists on judging the comic from that point (well, 4 chapters of buildup beforehand, but this is the apex). It proves that Taeshi can write herself out of mediocrity. It gives one hope that she'll do it again whenever things get predictable.

"Dial Tone" is the best though. It's basically a self-reflection of Mike's character through the course of the entire comic. It's rewarding because she's totally dropped the ball on Mike's character. She succeeded in making him a mary sue no longer in "december", but he was missing some things to be the kind of protagonist the series needs.

- In "Dial Tone" Mike had a nightmare involving being guilt-tripped by Lucy, and being ignored/abaondoned by Sandy.
- He wakes up traumatized, only to be made worse by desperately texting Sandy and getting no response.
- This triggers Mike to remember this happening before, and running to Lucy for comfort, showing one of her rare moments of selflessness.
- We move on to "Table For One", Mike is shown zoning out of everything happening around him.
- He bumps into Madison, and yells "Lucy's name", then later tells the group he had a nightmare involving Lucy. Both cases showing it's the "Lucy" aspect that's really sticking with him here.
- Skip to the end, Mike leaves everybody, sits by himself and quietly says "Happy Birthday"

Given context that his mind had been about the Lucy nightmare all day, and the fact he specifically recalled a memory of her being there for him at his lowest point. He's likely feeling guilty about how he actively ignored her on her birthday, and retroactively saying it now.

Yeah, the reason BCB isn't just tumblr trash is because Taeshi isn't very political and probably just got into SJW ish beliefs from her husband considering she was raised conservative catholic. She puts in some gayshit here and there because she probably thinks it's "nice and inclusive" or something but I doubt she'll ever shift the focus to political issues like that.

Also the polo a gay chapter isn't really bad by itself, it's bad because it felt forced and came out of nowhere. Had Taeshi left any hints before diving straight into that chapter that Paulo might like dick too I wouldn't have even cared.

Yes, It's Walky. The archive was a mess the last time I tried to check it. Willis tried to go back and re-draw a bunch of it, since the old art looked like ass but he gave up pretty quick. Now he's slowly re-releasing the archives with daily commentary.
Once you get caught up on that, you'll have to go to the old site and rely on the calendar links since the drop-down chapter select is broken.
