While I still like the artsyle and the 2D qt's, I fell out of SP after I realized most of the characters in this comic are self centered 20 something asshole burnouts that do have no actual comprehension of their actions and the consequences that follow from them.

It's like you're supposed to sympathize with them, when I just can't and don't understand how anyone ever fucking could, or even like most of the characters in this comic. Scott's a stupid cunt who can't do anything without thinking of other people.

Well, i think if you look at his actual character arc, not just how he views himself or how the comic paints him usually, you find he's very flawed.

He has responsibility but he's running from it. He wants to do well with his band but he lets his baggage interfere. He has dated a handful of girls and almost all of them have some kind of problem with him and alot of it is justified.

He's not perfect, he's just a guy who is still maturing and finding real strength, that being, to swallow your pride and face the consequences of who you were. That's how people grow and that's how Scott matures.

I think the big difference between him and kim and him and Knives is he was just dating Knives because it was easy. They didn't really have much in common. Not sure why people really hate the movie, I really enjoyed it for what it was, it was just really fun. Edgar Wright did an amazing job directing it.

It's a fair bit of the latter but Scott is hardly edgy. His actions are shown in a neutral light while everyone around him hardly applauds his nature. More often than not it's directed at his faults which he tries repeatedly to wave off. Only bit by bit does he become a better person. The drama stems partially from that Scott never actually got a job/life after getting out of high school so he hasn't progressed. There's a few points where Scott reunites with earlier characters who are at completely different places in life while he's been in the slow lane, just to cement how glacial his improvement has been. It's not self indulgent of that laziness and seems more critical of it. Worth a read, would recommend either B+W or colored.

Man, it's...it's not worth it. One had a ton of baggage that she had to vent/share with the other, and it was protracted. They only kissed like once when they left but that was like, a goodbye-friend kiss with a hint of something more that made it weird to have been a witness and not able to even talk about it since the other girl had kind of a crush on the baggage girl.

I wasn't even looking for anything but maybe some cuddling but christ, the cards were not in my favor.

This. Also, Scott is never applauded or championed for his awful behavior. The entire premise of the fifth and sixth volumes were basically him being punished and eventually facing the consequences of his actions. As much as Scott has fucked up and been an ass, he's never portrayed as a "good person", even by his friends.
