To be fair: the 'Tec issue that launched it was pretty weak; and the actual Rebirth 001 issue was crap (it does a really half-assed job rehashing Kate's history so if you already know it it's a boring waste of time and if you DIDN'T already know it it's a confusing mess).

Shoehorning in a tranny was also really stupid and pointless ( unless they *wanted* to give people flashbacks to her god awful run on Angela at Marble ).

This issue was an improvement, but it's still just a mediocre and forgettable comic ( I mean ffs "The Knife"?? )

In just 11 years of her modern existence, she's been in 52, then detective comics, then her own series for 40 issues (which is not terrible for lesser heroes, you're right, but 3 1/2 years isn't really successful enough to warrant more attempts)
Then theyve done a crossover or two, and now they're bringing her back again, for what will most likely be another short run.

I think DC writers just don't get that her being a lesbian doesn't mean that more people will read her now. They just aren't doing a good job of branding her as the occult batman.
This one seems to be making sure readers know that from the get go, so maybe it'll help.

But when they do stupid shit like "Oh, I'm a lesbian fighting white supremecists and stuff in my spare time, now here's a monster" it doesn't give me hope.

Honestly, her character backstory makes a whole lot more sense for her to be in something like redhood and the outlaws, or hell, why she wasn't the secret agent in that nightwing plotline instead of dick I'll never know.

DCs biggest mistake with her is that they're afraid to actually embrace a clear identity for her.

She's batwoman, but isn't part of the bat family, but she's somehow respected by bruce enough to let her do her own thing, and use the bat name.
She's a detective at heart, which puts her in with Montoya. Oh wait, she's a soldier. Oh wait, she's an unwilling participant in occult shit. Oh wait, she's...

I want Batman to fight some Vampires and Zombies, and a werewolf or too.

Like, I'm a big fan of Batman's rogue's gallery and all, but I really enjoy when he gets to do more international stuff. I like it when Batman is out in the dessert chasing down Ra's, or at some Gothic Castle in the Carpathian mountains to hunt down a Vampire.

I really like it when Batman gets to be a swashbuckler, and we haven't had that from Batman in a while.
