this page feels a little bit like the way the comic did a few years ago and I don't really know why. Maybe it's the progression or something.

Mainly, it just makes me feel bad that Morbi doesn't really seem to like his own webcomic anymore, or at least lost most of his passion for it. It's just kinda there, and sometimes he feels like working on it and sometimes he doesn't.

You know, after the thousandth hiatus and coming back seeing it fresh, I'm not quite sure what I saw in this. I thought I liked the characters, but they're kind of all looking like broad anime tropes now. And not in a self-aware way, either.

Cute world, though.

Really sucks for Poppy and Kit though.
Kit can't push off working on her father's magic cancer cure since as Fantomet said, they need results or else Renard won't live much longer. Also there's the whole Kit is afraid her family will blame her for his death if she fails and she'll blame herself.
Poppy meanwhile literally can't do anything to help Kit in that regard. In a fight she can solve her problems by punching them away, but unless she can cure magic cancer by punching it away (which if it were possible that would be a hilarious sight) she can only watch and wait.

It's gonna be interesting to see how Poppy and Kit deal with the various issues their relationship is gonna have. Hell we haven't even gotten to how the rest of the Darling family sees them.

I'm not getting that at all. Hallia mentioned that Kit made, in her own words, a very extensive list of Queen Darlings Proposals for Better Opossum Living.

Here's what this page is telling me.

The first main panel is showing Kit and Poppy when things are normal and it shows they have lots of genuine affection and love for one another.

The second and third main panels shows Poppy being enthusiastic at her job and we see her at dinner talking to Kit about it. Kit however realized that some samples in her lab need to either be looked at or get ready for analysis or whatever and she needs to leave in a hurry. They say their I love you's but Poppy seems to be a bit bummed out she won't be able to talk to Kit about her job.

The fourth main panel in my mind is either Poppy just doing some training with Petunia and Borris to show she's still doing that during this "montage", or that judging by her face and Borris's grimace, she's taking her frustration from the previous panel out on him.

The last panel shows Poppy and Lily waiting for Kit to come to dinner but she's too busy on her cure to come.

This page is meant to show what their relationship is like. When that cure business isn't around it's really great. They love each other and love being in each others company. However the cure research can't be ignored by Kit. Since it takes up so much time to do, she has to take time away from other things to work on it.

Unfortunately and likely unavoidably, she has to cut back on being with Poppy and Lily, and even though as the first panel and the first part of this chapter showed that even though Poppy and Kit on their own have a strong relationship, outside factors can and will put a damper on it.

Honestly I'm a bit impressed with Morbi with this update.

Sure everything looks bad if you look at it from just a single perspective and assume ulterior motives. The truth is, much like real life its a lot more complicated than that. Kit wants to do good, likely because she wants to feel good but she also clearly has shown to put others above her own feelings for what she believes is right.

Of course, these actions she believes to be right have consequences she likely didn't foresee because that's just how things generally go and she has to deal with that on top of the previous obligation of helping her own family. She also doesn't seem like the type of person who would even want to be in the position as a ruler but since she is she does use that power for something that could be perceived as more selfish, like attempting to rectify what she believes are previous wrongs of her people to help possums. Being selfish doesn't makes you a bad person, but it probably has caused Kit to have a particular tunnel vision that doesn't allow her to notice the other problems as much. This is all just theory crafting though, and I am interested to see how these things might be handled.

She worked into Petunia's home as a maid by accident, but she as shit used the opportunity. She even got entry-fee money for the tournament from Petunia, used a great deal of it on herself and Lily, and was still in debt to Petunia at the end. If she wasn't opportunistic, she would cover the debt first.

And here's Kit asking for marriage when she was very clearly in a terrible state of mind, exhausted beyond reason and horribly traumatized by family shit. Poppy doesn't tell Kit to lie down or take a nap or ask later. She basically asks for a date.

There's nothing deceptive about these actions (I agree Poppy probably isn't smart enough for real beguilement) but she is quick to jump on anything she can even if it's clearly not fair to the other person.

From the begining, the main attraction has been the worldbuilding. It's what Morbi does best, honestly.
