"It's really that simple"
I love how they get a clue and Batman JUST KNOWS the answer by "following a pattern."
Who the fuck would know this? There is hardly ANY clues and he's like "I KNOW WHERE THEY ARE GOING TO STRIKE, WHY AND WHEN AND HOW WITHOUT ANY OTHER DETAILS!"
"But Batman, all it the card said was "The" "

Autism
>>90724566
I'd imagine that after the first few times, Bats catches on to how limited these crooks are in their creative thinking.
>>90724599
you're autism
>"The" "
>stares longingly into the distance
>>90724660
It's not like they haven't gotten better with the years. The joker is prolly oe of the most fucked up people he's ever dealt with
>>90724566
Context is key. Batman comics were goofy kiddie fare in the Silver Age, esp. when he dealt with bizarre, fantastic shit every issue, he never even flinched, because the stories were really basic stuff for kids (who they assumed couldn't follow actual deductive reasoning) that had to conform to CCA rules, so Batman would reliably stop anything, even alien invaders, because he recognized the settings on their doom ray and knew the exact element that counteracts it or whatever the fuck.
The producers of the show read this shit, said "This is fucking hilarious", and decided the funniest way they could possibly satirize it was just to present it as straight-faced and deadly serious as possible.
>>90727966
I didn't realize how ridiculously cartoony this movie was going to stay. I actually was waiting to see Batman go full blown current Batman and break every bone in Joker's body. Oh well
>>90728021
They kinda did do that, tho. He whips out the hammers of justice and everything.
Have you never watched the Adam West show?
>>90728082
yeah, I did. A long time ago, but never really thought about it till now.
(it's still funny as shit to watch non-the-less)
>>90728073
>yfw "This is the operating table"
>"The."
>stares longingly into the autism.

Nice try, Nigma, but not even namefaggotry can hide your misdeeds from the keen eyes of blind Lady Justice!
The key was as simple as you said - following the pattern. At first I thought your rampant abuse of capitalization was your sinister cypher, but as you well know that was no more than a mere red herring. I realized the revelation wasn't in the words you'd used, but rather, the words you hadn't used - for you see, you used every interrogative word, where, why, when and how... but not 'who' or 'what'!
Your intentions are as transparent as your alias, Riddler. You intend to steal "The.", the modern art masterpiece by Hugo Watt and Sebastian Whobert, the darling duo of Gotham's art scene, currently on display in the Flugelheim Museum!
Naturally your nom de guerre suggests you mean to ransom my kidnapped colleague, Robin, in order to carry out your crooked caper... but I'll have you know that the Boy Wonder escaped from your wicked clutches hours ago! The 'Robin' strapped to your saw mill is a amazingly lifelike, inflatable-Bat-model-decoy, not that that should hurt the attempted murder case against you!
The police should be arriving shortly.
>>90729014
I love these, anyone got that screencap that has like a dozen of these compiled together?
>>90729014
Foiled by the caped crusader! You wont catch me Batman!
>>90729137
oh my fine felonious fiend, you believe that i wouldn't realize you hid your real plan in plain site? you see, the first mistake you made also happened to be the first word you said "foil" foil as in aluminum, your second mistake was a freudian slip of the word "catch" catch as in, the catch of a firearm, or large artillery. you plan on stealing from the gotham military arsenal, you could have gotten away, had it not been for your penchant for puzzling, nygma.

Riddle me this Batman!
What has no hands but plenty of fingers?
>>90724566
THAT'S THE JOKE
>>90729014
>>90729137
>>90729592
Aw fuck it's a riddler thread.
>>90724566
On the original show, did Aunt Harriet infer as much gay subtext as she did in this?
>>90729635
too easy riddler! a finger is a unit of alcohol, you plan on robbing the gotham liquor distillery.
RIDDLE ME THIS BATMAN
I HAVE NO DOOR BUT I HAVE PLENTY OF WAYS TO GET IN?
I AM PASSED IN CLASS AS LONG AS THE TEACHER DOESN'T SEE ME?
WHAT AM?
ADD THEM TOGETHER YOU SHALL FIND ME!
>>90729735
I thought she was hinting that they were Batman and Robin the entire time. Cause she did wonder into the secret study and she ALMOST found the button.
>>90729735
That might have been a subtle layer, but I think it was mostly her knowing that they were Batman and Robin.
>>90728073
>>90728126
>YOU WANNA GET NUTS?
>LET GET NUTS
>>90729735
Aunt Harriet was disturbingly cool with the idea of a grown man fucking her 16-year old nephew in this movie
>>90729826
It was a simpler time back then
>>90729635
A chicken!
>>90729826
Really? lol
Miles better than pretty much every modern DC animated movie
>>90729014
He does it again

This is what I pay my 4chan subscription for.
This is his actual superpower. Not some shao lin crap he made up to explain what he was doing in his youth intead of preserving his parents' legacy.
>Who the fuck would know this?
Never read Sherlock Holmes novels, I take it.
>>90724730
Not in this universe. In this he's just a very colourful public nuisance.

>>90728073
Watching Adam West Batman go grimdark
>>90735159
>Batman 66
Who's the blonde beaut?!
>>90735269
Girl of the week. Can't keep track of 'em all, if there's any universe in which crime pays it's Batman '66. You get a free girl with every caper that you try.
>>90734893
oh yeah. I love Sherlock Holmes (and I don't just mean BBC or the movies. I love Jeremy Brett too and the radio plays)
but even with Sherlock, he had to get more than 1 clue, and even when he looked at someone's shoes, he had studied immensely. He could tell you when, and where but normally not TOO detailed, and a lot of it was an educated guess. Not something like "YOU A PIECE OF TIN FOIL? I KNEW IT! HE WAS TELLING US WE ARE FOILED! AND THAT HE'S HIDING OUT AT A FROZEN FOOD FACTORY!" Cause like, even Sherlock would need a 2nd clue.
>>90735809
What aren't you getting about THAT'S THE JOKE? Batman's deductions are meant to be giant ludicrous leaps that always turn out to be right simply because he's Batman! The whole show was making fun of the comic by playing the material straight.
Or sometimes the subversion, where the clues are insanely obvious
>Chief, did you sell any army surplus submarines lately and if so, to whom?
>Why we sold one just the other day to a Mr P.N. Guin
>P. N. Guin?
>...
>PENGUIN!
>>90729885
don't be silly anon if a chicken was involved Batman keen sense would have noted it
>>90736113

That's the joke, dumbass.

>I'm insecure, so I have to call people names.
>>90724566
That is a sherlock Holmes level detective intellect in action before your eyes.
Everybody shut up for a moment and picture the following:A sparrow with a machine gun.
>>90736113
>P. N. Guin?
>...
>PENIS GUN!

I didn't expect doom patrol to stay as weird as it did after Morrison left.
But the art change that came, YEESH
