I can see how it happens, though. They're used to the robe hiding things so they can pose the hand/sword to create a certain line of action rather than to create a natural anatomy. Then they tear up his shit and forget to rethink their poses.

As you can see in this shot, they're doing the same thing by making his skin look a similar color to the ground near his feet. He's also overall paler in general to contrast with his dark outfit. (and probably to make him look drained)
