We need to get to work on trying to translate this. The recent Aphra comic confirmed that this text is in fact logographic (the symbols mean words or concepts, not letters). The guy who made this is already onto something in that regard. If we're autistic enough to find a flat in a random location in America we can probably figure out how to translate this using old behind the scenes work and whatnot. Then we can translate the temples on Malachor and Lothal.

I recently re-watched it due to Twin Suns hype. I fucking loved it despite it's obvious flaws. It's a shame the pre-TPM era isn't explored more. It's so comfy, no blown out epic clone wars or the depressing grey era of the Empire. Qui-Gon is a really cool character as well. One of my favorite prequel Jedi.

The things that bother me about the film are relatively minor, mostly the excessive exposition. I would love to see a Special Edition that cuts, at most 5 minutes out of the film and axes some of the redundant dialog.

The more I think of it the more I'm sure that Lucas' directing isn't the problem with the prequels, it's the poor editing. I can imagine that Lucas was was in the editing room from start to finish, which is almost certainly the root of the problem, director and editor need to work independently.

Give the raw footage to a competent editor and I know there is a trilogy of damn good films buried in the prequels. There is so much to like in those movies, but they're so clunky at times it really saps the enjoyment out of them.

I'm going to burst everyone's bubble and say that the fight between Obi-wan and Maul ACTUALLY IS A FIGHT and Obi-wan kills Maul reluctantly and that the whole "muh feels" thing people are twitterposting about is the fact that the episode is so dramatically poetic even normies who never paid much attention to the backstory are going to feel sad for Maul as opposed to hating him for being that jerkass in TPM and TCW. That's the "heartbreaking" moment - something us turbonerds all expect but more casual viewers did not.

Something I think I loved about RO more than anything else is that this is the first time everything that Disney's been doing has come together in a single package.

The movie had a preceding novel that actually was referenced in the film itself, making it all feel like a single narrative. The Ghost from "Rebels" was present at Scarif, and we now know where some of those Hammerheads and Y-Wings came from. And on top of everything else, the Prequels themselves were referenced through cast choices and other things.

It truly felt like the whole new canon finally came together in this moment, and it was glorious.

It was coordination in the best way possible. It felt like the people making it gave a shit about actually making a good piece of canon, so they put their all into it. The fact that Krennic and Galen have such a realistic relationship instead of 'grr I'm going to get you galen' is interesting. Krennic was a good character, on par with Tarkin. He was just an incredible Villain. I'm glad so many people recognize how good this was, because it deserves that. We need more movies like this, it gives me hope for the Han Solo movie, if just a bit.

In the Star Wars Show LSG interview, they talk about how they were being asked for so long if there would be any inter-connectivity between the movies and the books, comics, Rebels, ect.

And now that the movie is out, they can finally say "Of course! That was the first thing we decided!"

These guys are huge fans, so OF COURSE if they're working on a tv show for 3 seasons, and there's a movie set in the same time-frame, no shit they're going to cross-over. Why? Because it's COOL, and they're fans who want to do COOL stuff.

There wasn't any ifs or buts about it, they did what ANY Star Wars fan would have done in their position.

You know how, maybe 10 years ago, us fans would say stuff like "I wish there was more movies, and they like, added this cool shit from the EU!"

Well the LSG are literally those guys, and now they can actually do that shit for reals. It's awesome.

And while you don't NEED to read Catalyst to enjoy Krennic in RO, and you don't NEED to watch TCW to understand Saw, and you don't NEED to watch Rebels to enjoy the space fight just because the Ghost is there, for the fans that do follow that stuff, the movie became 1000% more rewarding.

A huge payoff.

It gave context to a lot that happened. Orson is scary, and his getting bitchslapped by Tarkin is fine, but once you read Catalyst, and realize just how much of a tryhard Krennic is, it's way more rewarding. God, I hope they keep going this way with the canon, because it is so much better than the mess that TFA was. I really have hope, now that new people are on it, and JJ is far away. I haven't been excited for Star Wars in ten years, but fuck, I am now.

Depends on what you mean by specifically. Her biggest links to the rest of the SW universe- being an apprentice of Dooku and her lightsabers eventually belonging to Ventress- haven't yet been contradicted.

Though the lightsaber thing was always a weird attempt to connect the two. They don't actually look the same- they're both curve-hilted and have red blades but the actual hilts were always different.

It's the heyday of the Jedi, the Sith, the Republic, and the Mandalorians, or at least it was in the old EU. There's lots of cool stuff going on. It's also got much more of a high fantasy feel than the PT-OT era, which is part of what makes it such a good setting for RPGs. There's more mystery and spooky shit in the Old Republic era.
