Right, that makes sense. At some point I'll have to go back and watch season 1 again to see what's changed in a general sense.

That being said, whilst Star does seem to have supposedly shown some progress on owning up to her mistakes and trying to correct them, she is still making them in the first place. It'll be interesting to see how they handle that aspect of Star's personality as making mistakes, especially simple ones, will always be more impactful than ones ability to own up to them.

No doubt, however whilst it is both admirable and beneficial to be able to own up to ones mistakes, one must also be able to learn from them so mistakes become less common or damaging in the future. That's what Star will have to do moving forwards as her mistakes, even the simple ones, can have rather dramatic ramifications considering her position as princess of Mewnie.

I'm almost certain that her and Moon's interactions will deal with this idea as Moon's been shown to be highly capable in that role, but perhaps to a rigid degree. I'd love to see the two of them bonding and learning those positive aspects from each other, and possibly some mother-daughter adventures, can't say those are too common in cartoons from what I can recall.

what if Starco doesn't happen for the entirety of the series apart from one episode set in the future that shows Star and Marco as king and queen? with their kid, perhaps.

so Marco tells Star that he doesn't feel the same way for now but reassures her that things could change (last ep of season 3, maybe). so he still spends the rest of the series dating Jackie, but we also get to see that things do change in the future but it doesn't happen instantly.

i'm not sure anyone would like to see this cause it sounds like a bit of a cop-out, but it'd at least help the writers avoid doing an asspull regarding Marco realising that he likes Star all long despite little evidence.

maybe show Jackie & Marco's relationship deteriorating throughout season 4 (assuming it's the final season) until they break up at the penultimate episode and then throw in the episode set in the future in the very next episode.

Pretty great character. Was overused in S1 but I liked the idea of him being a decoy with Toffee as the real villain, the traits that made Ludo such a pathetic and cliché comedy villain also making it easy for him to be overthrown.

Him becoming competent this season was cool. At first I didn't like the possibility of him being strung along by Toffee again (not only feels like a repeat of last season, but seemed to mean throwing away his development too) and then of course they went and did that, but they're taking a more sympathetic approach to it than I expected and that could be interesting. Possession is sort of an inherently freaky concept on its own, and they really seem to be showing how Ludo has no clue what's going on, Toffee just does not give a fuck what happens to him, and Moon and others would like to help but now may not be able to. He might be more vengeful than before whenever he realizes Toffee's used him again.

I think he's going to be redeemed and play a role in bringing Toffee down, maybe with Toffee underestimating him being part of that. They're no longer playing him as a total joke and with the introduction of his family I don't expect they'll kill him or have him sacrifice himself either.

Well seeing how Star had already agreed to ditch him for the sake of Janna, most likely Marco would have either sat sadly at home because he can't stand Janna and the thought of spending the night at a graveyard with them was too horrible, or he would have tagged along and been miserable because Janna was needling him.
