Some anon posted the following yesterday regarding season 3 and relationships. Basically there will be asspulls, one way or another.

Assuming Star and Marco have to be at least friends moving forward, seeing how they're both still the main characters, one or some of the following options need to happen.

>Marco breaks up with Jackie but stays friends with Star
>Jackie breaks up with Marco and Marco stays friends with Star
>Marco and Jackie stay together

Now if anyone has ever confessed to a girl or vice versa, where one person didn't feel the same, then it makes the whole thing awkward. And I doubt this show will showcase that for a long time. Which means:

>Marco likes Star back
Would this make sense considering he's made out with the girls he's had a crush on for years and had no romantic hints of liking Star outside of BMB
>Marco is ok with being friends with the friend who likes him
With this option Marco would break up with the girl he's been chasing for 9 years and been with her for some weeks. Is this a realistic option

Point is I don't see how the writers can pull off a successful transition to season 3 without making some type of ass-pull.

I just watched the last two episodes and I thought they were bretty good. However there were some scenes that were kind of bad like Moon not slapping Star when she was about to tell her about toffee or Star's reaction being a bit off to this. Star's awkward handshakes made me feel identified since I am a sperg IRL. I liked the fight scene between Moon and Toffee in comparison to the fight with Star and him which IMO was shit. As for shipping, I am Starcofag but I think the show could end with 0 ships winning which makes me very sad. Are there any theories/speculation for the next season? Any good fics? I haven't been on not /sveg/ in a while, thanks.

Why would they have upgraded her role beyond love interest though? That the clear role she's supposed to fulfill, and she pretty much just shows up in episodes where she's Marco's love interest/gf, and only those, like how Tom pretty much only shows up in episodes where he does/did something, or for a one off gag. They don't like to put characters in episodes where they don't do anything anymore.

They could have just shoehorned her into to regular SoL episodes after Marco and her became a thing but then that makes the relationship drama when it's actually time for a relationship episode less interesting.

It could be, but Marco's feelings have been extremely consistent up to this point. He's had oneitis for most of his life (discounting Hekapoo dimension, maybe, but he comes right back to liking Jackie when he gets back.) Star changes what she likes at essentially random, and Jackie says that she felt okay with liking Marco because she and the skater guy never actually did anything.

I don't think it has to feel forced. The show has at least two seasons ahead of it, and the crew has known since at least the end of last year. The writers have been excellent at planning things out so far, I trust them to not start fucking everything up now.

The obvious course of action for the story to take at the beginning of Season 3 is for Marco to chase after Star. He spent 16 years on a quest to replace her pair of scissors, there's no way he's not going to do everything in his power to help her, even if it's just to get closure between them.

Jackie is Star's friend, and Jackie is a nice person, even though Star's confession definitely shocked and hurt her. She'll be understanding that Marco wants to help his friend, the question is how understanding and where the writers want to go with the bigger picture of the story.
The main question is whether or not Marco is going to Mewni alone or if Star's other friends will help. If it's a party deal, I would expect Jackie to come along, but Marco putting himself (and the group) in danger on Mewni would create more strain in their relationship. Again, depending on how they want to take the story, either she would eventually get fed up and ask Marco to just come home with her, and he would refuse, or she'd stick with him and their relationship would be a continuing issue with Star through Season 3. I think the former is more likely.
If Marco is going after Star alone, then it's a lot more likely he and Jackie break up before he leaves. Jackie is Star's friend, and she's been nothing but chill and understanding up to this point. Star's confession clearly hurt her, but it would be pretty out of character for her to bitch Marco out about it. They may not even explicitly break up, she probably trusts him enough to believe him if he says he doesn't feel that way about Star.
The most likely way I see them ending is with a hug goodbye and a killer line from Jackie like "I wish I had a friend like you, Marco."

As a Starcofag, I must admit /co/, I'm becoming evermore nervous that it isn't going to happen.

Jackie is on the scene, and I can't see them breaking her away from Marco unless she turns out to secretly be an evil monster or some crazy off the wall shit, and even if that is the case, I can't realistically see Marco and Star ending up together. They've got great chemistry, and they SHOULD wind up together, but I really don't have my hopes up for ever seeing it happen Anons. Everything points towards it NOT happening.

Season 2 changed a lot of things up from 1 and had a several episodes that have to be watched in a specific order without radically altering the entire show. It's not at the level of "Disney DEMANDS no continuity" the way some people claim it is.

Also this show, and most others, wouldn't benefit from GIANT PLOT REVELATIONS every half-episode. How the hell would anything at all even sink in that way
