We're going to find out today how and why Elric left his empire and how he first came to carry his true mistress, Stormrbinger.
Elric of Melnibone.

This is the first one I've read. I love the Elric novels but I've never read the comics before and clearly I must have missed out on other storytimes.
Links or downloads would be much appreciated OP.
>>90686364
And for those wondering why i'm doing this in anachronistic order, it's because beyond the fact that this is style in which all of this was published, i feel like it's a good way as any.
Last stretch will be in chronological order though and Stormbringer will be left for last.

Fun fact i actually found out recently by reading Red Pearls
>>90686827
So for those in the know, the dragons of Melnibone are called the Phoorn.
>>90686843
They're considered blood brothers to Melniboneans and are sentient.
>>90686858
>>90686843
Turns out, it's actually more than that.
When a Phoorn egg hatches, it's got a 50/50 chance of it either hatching into a dragon.
>>90686884
or into a Melnibonean like entity.
>>90686902
Turns out Elric's mother was born from such an egg.
>>90686924
That's right. Elric is actually part dragon.
He meets up with his aunt in Red Pearls.
>>90686938
Who has the rare ability to transform into her Melnibonean and dragon form at will.
>>90686967
Just thought people would like to know that since this isn't info you're gonna find on the net easily and actually need to "gasp" read the stories to find out

I'll tell you what i liked about both adaptations of this book.
Even with the original book she was relegated to simple damsel in distress, you do get how Elric and Cymoril really love each other.
I like it when the story gets comfy like that.

Last issue.
Come all and bear witness to Stormbinger.
>>90688565
>>90688562
It's classical 60's-70's fantasy.
It's an acquired taste to say the least.
>>90688600
You won't find alot of other comics presented like this.
>>90688616
>>90688630

Oddly it's far more digestible than the ones you storytimed written by Moorcock himself.

Multiverse?

yes
Also I'll confess I enjoy looking at Tom Orzechowski's lettering
>>90688692
>>90688715
>>90688702
Obviously because Multiverse is incomprehensible even to those with extensive knowledge of Moorcock's work.
I was the one who spent time storytiming it and I still don't know half of what was going on.
>>90688763
>>90688763
>I was the one who spent time storytiming it and I still don't know half of what was going on.
I don't think Moorcock did either.
>>90688776
>>90688789
There was so much bullshit in that story taken out of the Second Ether trilogy it was mind boggling to say the least.
Doesn't help that that particular trilogy isn't even well known.
I like the concepts but there so much context and exposition just missing.
>>90688812

SURE ELRIC
MAKE THE GUY WHO WAS DRUGGING YOUR WAIFU, KILLED A BUNCH OF YOUR MEN AND TRIED TO KILL YOU INTO THE REGENT OF YOUR EMPIRE
THIS WILL SURELY NOT FUCKING BACKFIRE
THERE ARE ZERO WAYS THAT THIS CAN GO WRONG
One could become wealthy in Melniboné as a chin sharpener
>>90689119
One thing that the French got right was a proper excuse as to that whole thing happening.
>>90689143
Don't forget the rule of the universe.
>>90689158
Elric does not get to be happy.
So enjoy this time of peace while you can, White Wolf. It won't last.
And that does it for the storytime peeps.
Thanks to everyone for reading along.
Discuss if you want.
>>90689202
oops, forgot the pic.

How did Moorcock avoid going full Anne Rice and not make him into a rock star in the 60s
>>90689235
He was too busy going HAM with Hawkwind. Complete with Elric cosplay on stage.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=STNrzt5jKvo
This is a thing that happened.
>>90689215
By the way, tomorrow it's gonna be Weird of the White Wolf.
Gotta lay down some context on what's gonna happen next to our moody albino hero as well as some world building.
>>90689566
Like, how did this world come to be and what are it's overall rules.
>>90689588
And if the Lords of Chaos exist and are represented by Melnibone, what do the agents of Law do to this world?
>>90689615
Well, tomorrow you're gonna find out!
Shameless bump.
>>90687271
Melnibone must be the most ridiculously irredeemable society in fiction.
Like, every time I read about it, I find a new little atrocity. Even the fucking Drow aren't this pointlessly edgy.
>>90687357
Boy, you done it now.
>>90690915
They're literally chaos worshiping elves.
What did you expect?
Want me to tell you some other bits of decadence the Melniboneans committed?
One last bump from me.
This is awesome dude. Thank you.
>>90691496
You are very much welcome.
You know, i think i have it in me for one more storytime.
Who here wants me to do it? Assuming there's anyone here.

>>90692398
You're good. Just keep in mind that Stormrbringer is the endpoint.
>>90692166
I appreciate these old comics for their time, but holy shit the new one is an improvement in almost every way.
>>90693393
Even Moorcock said that he preferred this adaptation over his own original text. Alan Moore agreed as well.
